The Ramla Bay Resort is on a sandy beach a short drive from Mellieha, a village in the north of the island of Malta. The hotel has its own 250m long stretch of beach on Marfa Bay, as well as sun terraces and three swimming pools. The hotel overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and the other Maltese islands of Comino and Gozo. You can order a drink from the poolside bar and admire the sea views from the terrace, and choose between a sunny or shaded spot. There's also an indoor swimming pool at The Ramla Bay Resort. The hotel has a spa with a Turkish bath and a sauna, and you can book a massage. The hotel can also organise water activities for you, and there's a PADI diving centre. You can arrange to take a boat trip out to the island of Comino from Marfa Bay. There are four bars and four restaurants at the hotel, giving you plenty of choice, and all the restaurants have some outside seating. If you want a snack on your balcony or terrace, the hotel has a mini market where you can buy essentials. The hotel hosts family-friendly entertainment in the evenings. As well as the hotel's bay, you can visit Malta's sandy beach, Mellieha Bay, which is a short drive away. The shallow waters make it popular among families, and there's a selection of snack bars. You can also head to the village of Mellieha, with a choice of places to eat, drink and shop.
Mellieha village is 3km from Ramla Bay Resort, overlooking Mellieha Bay. You can climb up the Red Tower for panoramic views across the sea and island. There are restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as places to browse for souvenirs. You can also visit Mellieha's Popeye Village, a former film set on the water's edge which has a lido and a restaurant. For day trips, you can head inland, 3km from the hotel, to the Ghadira Nature Reserve, a habitat for birds and other wildlife. Or, you can stay by the sea and take a walk in the coastal Majjistral Nature and History Park, a 9km drive from the hotel. Valletta, the capital city of Malta, is 23km from Mellieha, and there's a bus service from the centre. It's on a small peninsula, and dates from the 16th century. You can visit the bars and cafÈs on narrow old Strait Street, or shop for the local silver filigree on Triq Santa Lucija.
There are two buffet restaurants at Ramla Bay Resort, both open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The two a la carte restaurants serve lunch and dinner, and there are two cafes. The hotel has four bars, including a lounge bar and a pool bar. All the bars serve snacks as well as drinks.
The hotel runs a kids' club and there's a separate swimming pool for children. There's also table tennis and a pool table.
The rooms at Ramla Bay Resort all have a balcony or a terrace. Inside, you'll find air conditioning, a satellite TV and Wi-Fi.

Terrible Experience - All we got was excuses
It was such a pity because we were so excited to visit and heard great things, especially for people who are coeliac like my partner. Unfortunately, all staff had zero knowledge about coeliac disease. upon arrival we find out that there was only one restaurant open, Kofi&Kale was also not serving any food so we had to resort to ordering food from outside and paying for delivery charges. We kept getting the same excuse that it was there last weekend open, but yet this was never communicated to us, and we paid full price for a Panoramic Suite room Food made my partner sick on most days because clearly, the staff had zero awareness of how to handle food when it comes to gluten allergies. The spa was also closed, which again we were not made aware of, so we had to leave the hotel on one of the days as we planned on getting a massage. Overall terrible experience due to a lack of communication, care and knowledge from all the staff.
Great hotel, excellent location
Great hotel in an excellent location for getting across to Gozo with an amazing view. There are building works going on but didn’t faze us. Car park was a bit tricky as we only had a tiny hire car. Only 1 swimming pool open which wasn’t busy. Beach was ok. We booked an panoramic suite which was worth every penny. Amazing views out to Comino and beyond. Didn’t want to leave! Restaurants were great food and value. Would definitely book again
Still my happy place!
My previous reviews show how highly I rate this hotel, and I'm delighted this is still the case! There are obviously preparation works going on for the planned redevelopment, and the hotel are fully transparent about this before booking, but it didn't impact on the enjoyment of my visit at all, and they have worked well to minimize the impact whilst still offering a full range of facilities. The rooms are, as always, beautifully equipped, spacious and with incredible views, and the stunning sunsets I'm so fond of. It was lovely that the sunbeds on the rock podiums and the beach were still accessible, and the food and drink options were as wide... and tasty!...as always! Staff are friendly and attentive, and I must give special mention to Marica, Sales Manager, for her attentiveness and help (and patience!) as always with my booking requests, and also to Elena, for still making great White Russians and giving me such a lovely welcome, and great service with a smile, all week! It was so good to be back, and I'm already set to get a few more visits in place....I can't wait to be back!
