AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Not air conditioned! Not as advertised and not worthy of 4*

May 2022 | lonelyspliff

This hotel is the worst I’ve stayed in, by far. I’ve been in better 3* hotels than this depressing box. Firstly, rooms are advertised as having A/C. This is a lie! The central air conditioning is actually turned off during most of the year and apparently only turned on in the summer months (according to front desk staff Theo). When I asked to speak to the manager, he rudely gave me the run around and told me to just email a complaint and someone will check it. What good is this when the rooms are barely breathable? How do they expect people to sleep in such stuffy conditions? It’s currently 24C outside but feels like 30C inside! Oh and when contacted by the company I booked this with (Priceline), he told them on the phone that the “A/C was on but not satisfactory for the guest”. This is a complete and utter lie and I pulled him up on this after the call. I told him just because the room fan is on and blowing warm stale doesn’t mean the A/C is on! Secondly, the interior is so dirty. Stains everywhere (hopefully JUST bleach) and bits of the furniture peeling off. You genuinely won’t think this is worthy of a 4* hotel if you see it with your own eyes. Management are non existent. Which 4* hotel doesn’t have any management working on the weekend? Service from the staff needs to improve rapidly. I will never ever use this hotel again and I will spread the word as much time as I can to make sure others don’t make the same mistake I did with booking this hotel. Please, if I can dissuade just 1 person from not booking this abysmal hotel, I will consider my efforts not wasted. There are many other options and if you’re looking for something cheaper, PLEASE JUST GET A 3* HOTEL because that will 100% be better than this hell-hole; in fact, I’m sure the temperature in hell is lower than these godforsaken rooms.

Poor location

The hotel itself is ok although not particularly clean and our room was very small. It's located on a fairly dirty side street near one of the big train stations and is about 45 minutes walk from the main sights.

Good for the money

Was very skeptical to stay here after the reviews were so mixed but what you have to remember is you get what your pay for. if you want somewhere just to sleep with decent breakfast this is perfect. The staff are amazing and polite. The breakfast wasn’t amazing but it’s not awful. it’s a nice start to the day you can get creative and make it something nice. the coffee machine was really nice. the rooms need updating and some maintenance as our curtains were falling down, bathroom light didn’t work, neither did our phone and our fridge was missing. The hotel is really close to the metro and bus stops so great for getting around the city. i really recommend a travel card for your stay as you can get on all of the public transport in the city which makes it really easy to get around. I’m not sure if i would stay here again but i would recommend it if your want to do budapest on the cheap
