Initially when we arrived (10pm) we were a little disappointed. Our studio was ground floor, sitting a bit lower than ground level and was quite small but after a couple of days we actually grew to love it! It was very clean and the beds were really comfortable (a huge plus!) Large wardrobe and drawer space and the kitchen area was totally functional with a kettle , toaster and full fridge. There were two hob plates but we didn’t cook in. The bathroom, again, small but nicely tiled and the shower was great. Cleaned and bins emptied every day and towels and bedding changed 3 or 4 times during our 10 day stay. Nice size patio area with sun from morning til mid afternoon. The pool area is lovely with nice sunbeds and cushions. There’s no pool bar, which we knew,so it’s nice and quiet and there are two hotels next door where you can use there bar and restaurants (both were very nice) Close to the bars and restaurants and 10 minutes to koukounaries beach. Lovely walk through pine forests , probably half hour, to a couple of other beautiful beaches. Also lake studios are situated in between bus stops 24 and 25 where the bus comes ever 15-30 minutes to skiathos town, which is stunning and only takes 30-40 minutes depending on how many stops it makes! We also took the fast water taxi from beach to the town, that was great, only took 15 minutes. Had a lovely stay and great weather (apart from one mega storm one afternoon) Would definitely stay here again.

Holiday September 2021

Dec 2021 | robertsI9338JV

The hotel is very basic but clean , was a little shocked at the bathroom as dated, we had air conditioning, a television and safe all free of charge. Check in was an experience the people who run the hotel do not speak much english but we got by. We got on quiet will with them by the end of his holiday. The pool area is clean and tidy the pool is nice It has a shallow end with steps and a deep end with a sitting area, the only thing wrong with the pool area there is no pool bar but that all depends what you want. There is ample parking around the hotel.

Fantastic Stay At The Lakes

Oct 2020 | Bitzzzzy

Travelled as a couple 27th September - 4th October 2020 I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to visit Skiathos this year. Like a lot of people our plans were cancelled many times and it started to look like a holiday wasn't happening this Summer. We booked 6 days before travelling. We looked at several hotels in Koukounaires and The Lakes stood out as being the most traditional Greek style studios. We wanted a room to put our heads down with the basics so we could have breakfast on the balcony whilst planning our day. The Lakes was perfect for the two of us and it had the added bonus of having a lovely small pool set in a beautiful garden surrounded by large pine trees, so lovely not to be surrounded by terracotta tiles and the air quality here was fantastic too. Welcoming check-in by a lovely couple, paid our 3.50e for the room tax and they left to our one devices with no fuss. Although small and basic the rooms were clean and we had a kettle, toaster, toasty maker and a standard size fridge in the kichenette. Two of everything - knives, forks, spoons, cups, glasses, various size plates and bowls were provided alongside a couple of pans ect. This was all clean and functional and suited us perfectly. Bathroom was typical Greek wetroom style, fully functional for the 3-S's...shower was always warm. We didn't get a towel change but I use my own anyway. The room was cleaned and rubbish taken every day. Much to our surprise there was no charge for the safe or the air con (we didn't need the air con but it was a nice touch). There was a flat screen TV in the room with remote but we didn't bother turning it on as we were generally only there to sleep and plan our day. The location of The Lakes is fantastic. There's no pool bar at The Lakes, which I liked as it meant we could bring our own drinks, a few people brought their lunch too. If you want a pool bar The Muse Hotel next door is very reasonably priced and is also an excellent bar for an evening drink - the staff there are super friendly, funny and stay open later than most places playing Abba tunes late into the night. Turn left out of The Lakes a short stroll takes you to Under The Pine Tree - a grill house that is very popular and serves up very good quality fresh food at a very very good price. Next door is the Oly's Supermarket that we found to be decent value and the best stocked, they also have a small coffee shop which we took advantage of and spent time People watching outside whilst sharing savouries and doughnuts. Next door to the Supermarket is Agustera Bar which is huge and serves a quality breakfast and evening meals until 10pm. There's also large screens for music and sports but what makes this bar special is the super friendly welcome from Dino, Sophia and Elsa - always attentive and take time to make everyone welcome. We also enjoyed Busolla bar and Big Bad Wolf restaurant a hundred yards or so further up the main road. Turn right out of The Lakes you have a choice of beaches that are all beautiful. We preferred the lovely 6-10 minutes stroll to Koukounaires Beach (there are more supermarkets, bars ect along the way but we didn't try these). In 30 years of travel this is the cleanest, nicest beach that I have ever had the pleasure to be on. It really is a special place, roughly a mile long stretch of beach that runs along a large lake and conservation area with stunning greenery and pine trees. There are several bars and sunbeds to rent and at the far end there's a kiosk for cold drinks ect. The Lakes is situated close bus stops 24-25 (26 Stops in total from Skiathos Town to Koukounaires Beach) and for 2 euro you can go anywhere the bus goes, we took a trip to Skiathos Town which was roughly 20 minutes on a quiet day. It's a grand day out with a beautiful harbour and lots of shops, bars and eateries. We had a lovely lunch at Kosikias Grill. All in all a wonderful stay at The Lakes and for the price we paid it was excellent value. We did find that Skiathos was a lot more expensive for food and drinks compared to several other Greek Islands we have visited but as the saying goes you get what you pay for...bring some extra spends and enjoy - we did x
