Levante Beach is a small hotel on the promenade at Kamari, a resort on the east coast of Santorini. This crescent-shaped volcanic Greek island is one of the Cyclades, an archipelago in the Aegean Sea that includes Mykonos and Naxos. The hotel has an outdoor pool, which is shaded by trees. The beach, with its dark volcanic sand, is a few steps away. There's a beach waiter, so you can enjoy a drink without having to move from your sun lounger. There's Wi-Fi in all public areas of the hotel, as well as a reception area. The beach at Kamari is sheltered on one side by a rock known as Messa Vouno, which sometimes appears to glimmer in the dark. You can stroll along the waterfront and take your pick of the bars, restaurants and tavernas along the shore. There's a little nightlife to be found in the centre of town. When exploring, you'll also see some of the traditional white-washed houses that Santorini is known for. You might like to browse the shops, many of which sell locally crafted souvenirs. You can take a boat trip around the island's coastline to go swimming in hot springs or visit active volcanic areas, or to travel out to smaller islands such as Anafi. Alternatively, you could hike, take a car or a minibus up the steep, winding road to the top of the Messa Vouno mountain. Here, you can visit the site of Ancient Thera, which dates back to the 9th century BC.
The island's capital, Fira, is 8km away, and can be reached by bus from Levante Beach. The whole town is perched on a cliff and offers panoramic views over the submerged volcano. Fira is bustling in high season, with visitors taking advantage of the views of the narrow paved streets, blue-domed churches and white houses with blue doors. One of these churches is the Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral, which was built in 1827 and is adorned with frescoes by the local artist Christoforos Assimis. Fira has an archaeological museum and an art and cultural museum with historical paintings and photographs. You can walk downhill to the old port, or you could take the cable car which offers views over the sea. Boat trips leave from the old port, including short trips to get a closer glimpse at the remains of the volcano. You can also go on walks around the area along the cliffs.
A continental buffet breakfast is available at Levante Beach, along with à la carte meals. The cocktail bar is open throughout the day and evening, and serves drinks including cocktails and champagne, plus a range of food options like burgers, pasta, pizza and Greek dishes.
You can relax at the shaded pool area or on the beach, or explore the other villages and beaches dotted across this volcanic island.
The rooms at Levante Beach have a balcony or terrace. There's also a TV with satellite channels, a fridge and air conditioning. Due to the location or design of this hotel, the balcony design may be slightly different to usual. We ask you to take extra care on your balcony and ensure that children are never left unsupervised.
