What we wanted, but maybe not for all.
On Arrival (we were late at night) check in was flawless, and the night team gave us a cold drink, and helped us to our room. The room had a small plate of food for each of us which was very welcome. Our room was pretty small, but to be honest we managed, as I don’t go on holiday to stay in my room. We were two adults and our 17 year old Daughter and we found the room tidy, well kept on daily freshen ups, and enough storage. Balcony only had two chairs, so we took one from room, but that was a little tight. Food was OK, the meals were generally what you expect in an all-inclusive, and get a bit repetitive, but we all found something to eat every night. Fish was generally a bit dry, meats OK, and always plenty salads and other sides. We did eat out one night, and recommended that you try the Seafood restaurant on the beach (see other review). Drinks were all good and we felt we could get what we wanted, and as much as needed (sometime too much!) Pool and facilities all-round the hotel in general were good and clean, you have to get a pool bed early, but I noted the time we were there they were adding more. Staff were great and all very friendly, they get to know you and remember you, and always smiling. That I feel is important and makes a holiday. So why not 5 star! The hotel seriously lacked staff, and I appreciate as well as anyone how difficult that is in the current climate. But Bar staff having to go and empty pool bins, leaving big queues to form, and tables in restaurants were not cleared or reset (we had to ask nearly every night). It was NOT the staff fault they all worked very hard, just simply not enough of them. Entertainment – There are many comments on this and so I will keep it short, if we were there for that this would be a very low score, So if you want entertainment day and night DO NOT choose this hotel, you will not get it.In fact it was actually more laughable for us (and I do not mean in a entertaining way!), but if you wanted entertained it was pretty pathetic, and to me what seemed like a very demotivated team. If they were around during the day at least most of that time was spent more time drinking, and night times were rather dire and repetitive. If you want to laugh, sit back and watch the “Aqua aerobics”, it happens once a week, trust me you will get a good scale of the level of the team. In summary – Hotel/Facilities clean, but small hotel (was OK for us), Food Adequate, Staff great, Entertainment just laughable.
Nice family break.
Greeted on arrival with a cold towel and a glass of Prosecco which was a lovely touch. Lunch was just finishing as we arrived so the lovely reception lady told us to go get food before check in which was welcome after a ten hour journey. Our room was a swim up room and was nice. The best air con of anywhere I’ve ever stayed. Bed was comfy enough. Bathroom was fine but the shower was quite small and every time you moved you knocked the control and switched the shower off so had to be careful. Personally a full length mirror would have been appreciated and there was only one drawer for clothes storage but these were minor personal preferences. The other people in our party had a suite as they had two teenagers aswell and we’d been told previously they would have twin beds however on arrival it was just a pull down couch and we were told that was all they could do. Luckily the pull down pulled apart into two bits so it was fine and we just got extra sheets from housekeeping. Their pillows weren’t comfy for them and reception were quick to change them which was great service. Communal areas were spotlessly clean but the bathroom and some of the halls were a bit grubby and we found quite a lot of dead crickets around. Food was brilliant. One of the best all inclusive I’ve had. Plenty of choice at all mealtimes and apart from the normal staples we never saw a dish repeated. As with most places sometimes it wasn’t quite as hot as you’d like but that’s to be expected in the buffet situation. Alcoholic drinks weren’t great. Measures were massive but drinks themselves must have been very weak and you couldn’t tell they were alcoholic. Wine wasn’t nice at all. You could get prosecco though if you asked which didn’t seem to be advertised. Pool was nice. Annoying that people were down ages before breakfast to put towels down but we always found beds together so wasn’t a problem. Pool snack bar food wasn’t great. Free sun beds ar the beach with your hotel towel which is five minutes away. Can’t really comment on the entertainment as we didn’t participate in anything other than water polo but didn’t seem to be a lot on. We enquired about a massage but they seemed really pushy when we said we needed to check which day we could do so we left it. We went to Rhodes town on the bus which was about an hour and definitely worth it. Bus was busy but had air con so it was fine and was only four euros each. We also did a boat trip from the little harbour on the beach which is only five minutes walk and that was great value for money. Resort is lovely with some nice bars and restaurants. The Thai/sushi restaurant and the Greek taverna beginning with an O were both gorgeous and reasonably priced. Just what we wanted as a family but wouldn’t suit anyone looking for a big night out but Faliraki isn’t far away. Overall great food, nice hotel and staff especially Romeo who always had a smile on his face and the lady in the shop who was very helpful.
Fantastic stay at Leonardo Resort
Our first visit to Rhodes. We enjoyed a fantastic 7 night stay at the Leonardo Resort Kolymbia. From the warm reception on arrival (late flight) to our late departure this was the perfect hotel stay. The difference between a good hotel and a great one is found in the details. When we arrived we found a meal ready for us in our room. Sat in the pool area one morning we were kindly handed a welcome and refreshing Affogato (thank you Kuela). We were asked how our stay was on at least 3 occasions with sincere interest in our feedback. Romero in the restaurant also deserves a mention for his attentive service and friendly manner. Our departure flight was 11pm and were we able to book a space for getting changed before our flights with no difficult in retaining our all inclusive options right up until we left at no extra charge. On our departure Manolis was keenly interested in our experience and personally thanked us for our stay. The food was great with an extensive choice of local dishes and family favourites with a rotated menu over the duration of our stay. The pool area was clean with no difficulty in finding a sun bed. Easy access to the beaches and transport (air conditioned buses to Rhodes town 4 euro each way and hourly) from the end of the street. Boat trips to the beautiful Lindos can be taken from the charming harbour just 5 mins walk from the hotel. Eucalyptus Avenue with its array of shops, bars and restaurants was a 2 minute walk. The evening entertainment and one lunch time act were perhaps the best performances we have seen on any previous holiday. Top marks from us - thank you Manolis and team for helping to make our holiday such a memorable holiday.
