I must agree with the points made by Mr 'thebates22'. Shower curtains and fancy showers are not usual in budget accommodation in Greece. Mike and Maria are lovely hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. Despite the very limited cooking facilities we made scrambled eggs and omelettes from eggs given to us by Maria. Our room was cleaned every two days and we had clean towels and sheets then too. I don't change my bed linen every two days at home! This is a budget hotel in an excellent position for beaches and restaurants (provided you are happy with small, family run establishments serving traditional Greek food - if not, why are you in Greece?). We have stayed there several times, and will be going back next year.

Central, clean, safe and affordable budget accommodation in Falaraki

My wife and I recently stayed at the Butterfly studio apartments for 14 nights in mid July / early August 2021 Before I go into the review I think I just need to clarify a few points that other people have complained about in other reviews of the Butterfly studios, which in my eyes are unfair and don’t reflect on the true nature of budget accommodation on the Greek Islands as a whole: 1 - Be under no illusion that this is budget accommodation / it’s clean, it’s comfortable, it’s dated, if you want 5 star luxury then this is not the place for you, if you want budget family run accommodation then this is the place for you so please read on. 2 - As with 99.9% of accommodation of this type across the Greek islands, the air conditioning (A/C) is not included in the holiday price and incurs an extra cost. We paid €70 in peak season for 14 nights of A/C which worked fine and was perfectly adequate for the size of the studio keeping it very cool. If you want free A/C then pay the big bucks at a 5 star all inclusive hotel, otherwise cough up at your accommodation and please don’t complain about it. 3 - We have stayed in accommodation of this type all over the Greek Islands, they don’t have shower curtains or a shower hook on the wall. They have a shower tray and the bathroom is treated like a wet room - I don’t know why they do it this way, they just don’t, so please accept this as the way it is and don’t complain about it. Again if you feel the need for a glass shower cubicle or shower curtain go to an expensive hotel. OK so let’s get to the review of the family run Butterfly Studio’s in Falaraki. The accommodation is in a really good location only a 300m / 3 minute walk away from the Closest beach with the closest supermarket being only 100m away. Central Falaraki is only a 10 minute pleasant walk away where the main strip, restaurants, bars snd souvenir shops can be found. It is also located easily for taxi pick and the main bus routes with the closest bus stop being only 100m away. In essence it’s close to everything but far enough away that you can get a good nights sleep without the boom boom boom of the music from the strip. There is also plenty of free road side parking close by if you decide to hire a car/quad or motorbike. Transfer time via a licenceed cab (recommend) from Rhodes airport is approx 15mins and costs approx €20 (£17 / $23:50 - traffic dependant). The bus is another option but can take over 1 hour snd costs in the region of €3 (£2:50 / $3:50) per person. Check in (13:00 onwards / check out 11:30) via the reception was quick, simple & informative. We arrived after dark and moved straight into our extremely roomy studio apartment with private pool view from our balcony with table 2 stairs and washing line. The bed (twin rooms only / no doubles - but the beds are easy to pull together) was very comfortable and the water in the bathroom / shower was hot, powerful and plentiful for the duration of our stay, with a hairdryer in the room. Our room was cleaned and the towels were changed every second day during our stay. There was an issue with our A/C on the first night, so we reported it to our hosts who immediately moved us to the room next door with perfect working A/C and proceeded to fix the one in the room we moved from ready for the next people. We booked self catering however the kitchenette was probably the most inadequate (still workable though) we have come across in this type of accommodation, there was plentiful pots, pans, cups, plates, glasses & cutlery, if you need more just ask, the hosts are absolutely lovely people and are more than willing to help out where possible. Electric Kettle & hair dryer in the room. The pool area (8am - 8pm) was clean and tidy and the pool water was cleaned regularly with a small are for toddlers. There are also plenty of free sun beds, tables and umbrellas to use and there is a well stocked pool bar offering both snacks snd drinks. The wi-fi in the room was a little hit and miss if I’m honest but super strong in the reception area. Safes are available on request, we didn’t use one so not sure of the cost if any. As previously mentioned this is family owned and run accommodation so no corporate face here. You get the personal touch at the butterfly studios, the whole family are absolutely lovely and made us feel extremely welcome and nothing was too much trouble / thanks for the grapes Mike… Overall this is a very central, clean, safe and affordable place to stay in Falaraki and I would have no issue with recommending it to others looking for family run, budget studio apartment type accommodation.

Good Location

This is a budget hotel but it acts as a good base for those wanted to explore Rhodes for a low cost. My shower attachment had no wall fixings and the shower flooded all over the room. However, new fittings (and shower curtain) replaced swiftly, as well as my floor being mopped. I asked for extra towels (to roll up against shower room) as a precaution, and got them no problem. Toilet roll, bins emptied every day, sheets changed and new towels every other day. Good size pool, plenty of sunbeds (I was the only one by the pool often). Staff very friendly, will make you snacks etc - good prices. Well stocked drinks fridge in main reception - again good prices, as well as bar. No kettle in room but a small pan provided, so boiled water that way. Location is good. 10 minute walk into town (not main road) and same again to beaches (they're not great though - if you're after a quiet relaxing beach holiday, perhaps not Faliraki). Some good running routes around the area and some great hills to challenge yourself! Overall, this was perfect for me. This was basic/standard typical Rhodes acommodation. Dated but clean and safe. Didn't particularly like my room overlooking the pool on ground floor but it was quiet and no-one was out there. Sun only shines on the pool facing balconies during the morning - shaded afternoon. Overall I was very happy with the price I paid. Aircon is extra but this is standard in Rhodes.
