A short distance from Mastichari, the picturesque fishing village that is the island's second largest harbor, and steps away from an organized white sand beach with tranquil water that is ideal for families and water sports enthusiasts, sits the Gaia Palace that is everything you would expect in top quality holiday accommodation, dining, services and amenities. A hallmark of the hotel are its three swimming pools, impressive and tantalizing, beckoning guests to dive in for a swim, water games, to be refreshed or just relax. The fact that there are three main pools and three smaller children's pools means that there is a marked lack of crowing or noise at any given one. The large Olympic-size pool is reserved for water sports fans and those who want to swim laps, and has a separate adjacent children's pool for absolute safety; two smaller pools are dedicated to less intense swimming activity and in-pool relaxing, while each has its own adjacent children's pool as well. The Pool Bar completes the scene, offering refreshing juices and cocktails and a variety of snacks and tasty treats right next to the water. For visitors who prefer action-packed holidays, the Gaia Palace Hotel boasts a fully-equipped gym, basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, athletic and swimming games and competitions, fitness programs both in and out of the pools and on the beach, as well as a beach volleyball tournament. At the Gaia Palace, the fun doesn't stop when the sun goes down; it heats up even more with evening parties by the water and musical dance shows organized regularly.

What an amazing hotel!
I have to be honest after reading some reviews before i arrived i was a little worried. Absolutely no need!! The Hotel itself is beautiful and spotlessly clean! The food was delicious and varied each night, the best night was the BBQ by the pool night, what a fantastic time i had, again the food was amazing and the entertainment and atmosphere were just lovely. I would like to especially mention Mrs Nitsa, the glamorous hotel manager, she is extremely professional but at the same time, really kind, always smiling and treats you as if you are more like a member of her own family! The staff were always happy and smiling and couldn't do enough for me. The pool was lovely and the sunbeds were really comfortable and clean at all times. I had read quite a few comments about mosquitoes, so i made sure that i took a plug in with me for my room and also spray for my skin for the evenings, i did not get 1 single bite until i had boarded the coach and was sitting in the airport to go home, i had forgotten to spray my skin before i left the hotel!!. Kevi who works in the bar in the hotel in the evenings was so much fun! He made sure that if i needed a drink there was one ready, he took time to take an interest in the guests and couldn't do enough to help! My room was lovely, near to the main hotel, as i was on my own, this made me feel safe, i was so impressed how considerate the hotel are with their guests! I was even sent a beautiful bottle of wine and a lovely fruit platter to my room from the manager one evening, which was a lovely surprise! To sum up, the hotel, the staff, the food, absolutely everything in this hotel was 5* and i hope to return again very soon! I have high expectations from hotels and I've stayed in some beautiful one, Gaia is definitely in my top 3! Wee done Gaia Palace for the best experience a solo woman travelling and holidaying alone could have!
Just what was needed, Sun and a total relax
We arrived at the hotel about midnight'ish. Booking in was straight forward enough and someone came to transport us to our room in his little truck. It seemed a lot further away in the dark than it actually was. When we walked in I was pleasantly surprised, we had a ground floor, updated room that looked out onto one of the small pools, it put a real smile on my face after a long day of travelling. There was coffe making facilities, (no milk), luckily I drink mine black anyway, and a wrap with a a little cheese and salad in it and an apple. Not the best after a long trip but filled a hole! I was up early and went for a walk around the grounds to get my bearings, it is a bit of a maze, but a very pretty one. Realised the restaurant was not too far away, so off to get hubby up as I was starving. So I knew what the other reviews had said and most are pretty accurate about the food being luke warm. What I will say is, that we both really enjoyed the breakfasts, the bacon and beans were good as well as the coffee. I think the self service area is a little on the small side for the amount of people there, if you hit it at a busy time, which seemed to be about 9'ish, there were people everywhere , children running round and very quickly queues formed in certain areas when really, they didn't need to. Food on the whole was always edible, I am very fussy but never failed to eat something. The Banana Ice Cream is divine. Drinks - yes they really are poor quality, even the soft drinks. The white wine was ok, I topped it with a little lemonade and certainly was drinkable with the evening meal. I stuck to Vodka & Lemonade each evening and hubby drank the beer which he said was just ok! We stayed around the quiet pools most days, sometimes only us there, really enjoyed the peace and quiet. Many have said how cold the pools are! Yes they feel like they are freezing, but when you have been lying in 30c heat and your body is really hot, you are going in to cool down, and it does exactly that, just make sure you get in quick, once in, it is fine. I swam every day. We took a walk to the beach, about five minutes. We did not sit there, we took a walk along the front and back again, it looked lovely but we are not really beach people. We played Crazy Golf, clubs and ball available at reception, 3 euros for the day to hire. It was a bit of crazy fun. The gardens are lovely, some fantastic little places to sit spread around the area. The rooms were cleaned daily and a good job done. All in all the holiday was exactly what we wanted, some R & R out in the sunshine, it was pretty spot on for that. Probably a bit too far out for anyone wanting to be in the mix of things. Would we re-visit this hotel, probably not but it did give us what we needed at the time so we can't fault it.
Half term holiday
We arrived late in the eve so the receptionist said to grab food while the restaurant was Still open, appreciated, then she called to get our bags taken to the room. Hotel was lovely and clean and tidy, and quite friendly if you have a ground room for disabled although lift to spa was broken. Food got a little tedious during the week and not much choice for vegetarians and especially not vegan and alot of the time food wasn't labelled at all but they did have soya milk. Waiting staff were friendly/efficient and soon tidied away from meals. Drinks is help yourself in the restraunt, tea and coffee from machine, lager wine and squash. Beds were awful, really hard and 1 pillow. No problem getting nice sun loungers although I heard the week before it had been rammed and no chance of one, pools looked lovely and empty as far too cold for people to go in and stay for long even though temperature was 28 degrees. Nice lounge area and bar, sadly on our all inclusive holiday we found out you can only have certain drinks on all inclusive which limited it loads and pay for all drinks after 11pm. This also applied to anything else, mini golf, table tennis, sun loungers on the beach, even luggage weight check all extra money which soon mounts up and wasn't expecting. They do provide towels for sunbathing which deposit does get returned. Waiting staff were friendly but the rest just did what they had too and sometimes felt like we were putting them out asking something. Nice week but wouldn't go again.
