1st holiday for my 6mth old granddaughter
Fantastic hotel, wonderful staff, would have been nice to have more options for food in the day time, like snack bar. Drinks are served in 1/4 cup/glass. When you book restaurants for food if you have a little one book the restaurant's ASAP. .
Definitely not worth the money
Ok where do I start… upon check in you are literally handed your key and left to either wait outside for a golf buggy or find it yourself. They do not circle on a map where you are so it’s impossible to figure it out. Anyway got to my room. They put me in what can only be described as the party block. Outside bar area that is open until 12.15am and surrounded by couples or friends. I am a mum with a child. We were not able to sleep until 1am due to the bar being so loud and directly by our balcony. Then between 4-5am groups of people were obviously coming home from the bars in Kos town. Only way to describe it, they sounded like they were having a party in the garden area. After not being able to get hold of reception I had no option but to go out and ask them to please be quiet. Then another group of people came back and surprise surprise the same thing happened. This time reception answered and I said can you send someone over. Then to top it all off I thought I was going crazy as I could hear cockerels cock a doodling! This continued until 6am! Turns out they have lots of cockerels just roaming around the hotel grounds. When one starts they all start! So if you expect a good nights sleep you won’t here! I went to reception the next day and said about the room not being appropriate due to the bar and the noise, I was promised a call to my mobile, this did not happen so I went back hours later and had to wait, they advised there was only one other room available and they took me to it, this had the cockerels directly outside and was on the main road by the motorcycle shop and was the other end so I didn’t feel this would be appropriate as there were also lots of steps to go up and down and due to my sons disabilities it was not practical. I then asked about the orange coloured building as this looked an ideal quieter location they said they didn’t have any available that day so I asked if I could have a room there the day after and they said they could and would let me know. I never heard anything back so I’ve been stuck in the party block where I am constantly woken up throughout by the incredibly noisy people staying in this block. I have complained to reception but nothing! My room had the sink in the bedroom and then a toilet and wet room shower in the other area. This was a death trap as it became so slippery as it’s tiled, I slipped and had to place a towel directly onto the shower area floor for my son to stand on and stay there to avoid him falling. To be honest it was very dangerous and definitely not practical for any child or elderly people. Food is not great, no fresh fish or meat freshly cooked like other 5/4* hotels I have stayed in. Not sure if this has changed because of Covid? There is lots of pork that is cooked and left in a tray for you to help yourself to. If you like a lot of fresh fruit then you would be very disappointed here. I was shocked by how poor the fruit section is. The chefs are all very friendly and the waiting staff are. One bar tender is incredibly rude. Otherwise everyone has been lovely. The restaurant manager at the Chinese restaurant who greets you is so lovely. And the food was lovely there. I do recommend the Chinese restaurant. If you or your kids love pizza then you would be better off eating in the pool bar restaurant daily otherwise the kids section is incredibly poor. If you love pancakes/crepes then you will love what they call pancake island as you have a choice of fillings. Freshly made and are lovely. If you can get this holiday for a good price with a good discount then yes book it, but this hotel 100% is not worth the full price. I would of been devastated if I had paid the £900 + more even though it did cost me £1450. Overall I am gutted as so many people have said this hotel has a good reputation, the hotel room has ruined it for me big time and was disappointed with the food. The entertainment team have been great, constantly doing activities and the shows have been good. All lovely and friendly.
This is not a 5* Hotel
The hotel and it’s facilities are lovely and a big choice of pools to use. We chose the Athina, next to the piano bar in the Satellite area which was always quiet and could always get a sunbed easily. I would say the food was average at best, all the food in each restaurant was the same day to day. However, the staff at this hotel are the most unhelpful and rudest people I have ever come across! Especially the reception staff. We asked for a late check out as we were not being collected until 8.25pm which was denied so checked out at 11am. There was a query around the price as the Tui App said €50 but hotel staff said €75 as we were told it wasn’t a Tui hotel. We did check out of curiosity and our room was still empty after 6pm. We were offered use of the curtesy room (which closed at 6pm and we weren’t told). Usually I wouldn’t mind this but was quite difficult when travelling with a 2 year old, which the reception staff couldn’t have cared less about. I wouldn’t recommend the al a carte restaurants as by the time you pay for your drinks, it’s a much nicer atmosphere (and cheaper) finding a place to eat in town. The food in these were average also. Remember to ask for pool towel cards on check in, as again we didn’t get and had to go back the following day and I wouldn’t bother using a taxi into Kos town, as it is €8, but the hotel charge an extra €5 on top for booking from them. The bus stop is right outside the hotel and takes 5 minutes. Although the room had a kettle and tea/coffee, there was no milk? We were given 3 bottles of water throughout the whole stay as were told the water is drinkable in the hotel which I didn’t try. Don’t use the supermarket on site as the prices are extortionate, there is a much cheaper one outside the hotel which wasn’t a complete rip off, especially for pool floats This hotel is 3* at best, if you are wanting to stay in that area, there is much better choice elsewhere.
