The hotel has a great location in the southeast of the Greek island of Cephalonia in the Ionian Sea, offering panoramic views and easy access to the famous Skala beach and resort. The surrounding beaches are superb, and the hotel is just 2 km from the pretty village of Skala with its restaurants, bars, pubs and nightspots, as well as links to the local public transport network and shopping venues, and 7 km from the traditional village of Poros, both worth visiting. Guests can discover the sandy vastness and shallow waters of Mounda Beach (4 km away), which is the reproduction habitat of the loggerhead turtle Caretta Caretta.Renovated in 2010, this 39-room beach hotel symbolises the Greek peoples' passage in time, history and place. From Greek mythology of the Asterides (stars), the hotel shines like a lighthouse on the gentle, rocky hillsides overlooking the Ionian Sea. It is a family-run hotel, ideal for families and adults looking for a relaxing holiday in a resplendent environment. The hotel lounge has plush sofas and a big-screen TV and also offers various leisure activities such as free Internet access and a small library. The hotel is family-friendly and features a kids' club, children's playground and gardens. In addition to a lobby area with 24-hour reception and check-out services, further facilities available to guests at this air-conditioned establishment include a safe and currency exchange, as well as a café, bar, games room, TV lounge and a restaurant. Moreover, guests can take advantage of the wireless Internet access and a cellar for storing bicycles. Those arriving by car may leave their vehicles in the hotel car park.

Sleep Quality

Rooms with a fantastic view

Jun 2022 | karenhB8050VM

We have just returned from our 4th visit to this lovely hotel. The reason we keep going back is we love the location, looking down to Skala, the rooms have wonderful sea views. Its very relaxing to sit on the balcony with birds singing and goat bells ringing quietly in the distance. The rooms are very clean with air con and cleaned every day. The hotel grounds are full of beautiful colourful bushes and fruit trees. We normally hire a car but it is no problem if you don't there is a complimentary bus shuttle into Skala and a taxi back is 7 euros. The hotel bar is very well stocked and the lovely Irene is friendly and nothing too much trouble. The food is very nice and a good choice. There are some great beaches is Skala but you need sea shoes as once you get to the end of the sand to go into the sea it is all pebbles, or you can stay by the hotel pool all day where you can eat and drink. We didn't leave the hotel for our flight home until 4pm and they very kindly let us have the room until we left, this enabled us to sit around the pool and have a shower before we had to leave. I guess this may not always be possible but what a lovely gesture and one of the reasons we will be going back.

Fabulous Relaxing Break

Jun 2022 | Bev022

My cousin and I have just returned from a 5 night break at this wonderful hotel. We had a lovely ground floor room with amazing sea views down to the town of Scala. The staff work tirelessly and always have a smile. Nothing is too much trouble. The free bus shuttle into Scala is great and the food is amazing. We relaxed from the moment we arrived. We hope to return again soon. Thank you to all at Asteris Hotel for making our short break a special one.

Perfect relaxing holiday ☀️☀️

Jun 2022 | Lisa B

This was our first visit to Kefalonia, so choosing a resort and hotel took a lot of research. We were not disappointed. The Asteris was perfect for us. We had a double room (115A) with a very modern wet room. Our balcony had a sea view and we had the evening sunshine to relax on with a rum looking over the hills and watching the vultures soaring. The breakfast choice was fabulous. One of the best we've ever had in our travels around the islands. Amazing Greek yogurt with fresh fruit. Juicy tomatoes with ham and feta or hot sausages, bacon & beans with a change of egg style every morning. Little Lydia worked so hard and always had a smile for us. I love the cats who entertained me in the restaurant. The evening meals are delicious. The chef is brilliant. She has an eye for detail and every dish looks and tastes great. To you it off you can sit overlooking the beautiful Ionian Sea. There is a free minibus to take you into town if you fancy a change of scenery. It's about 3 miles which was not a bad walk on the way out but too much after a day at the beach. Every member of staff was so pleasant. It was a joy to stay here. We will most definitely go back
