Located on the southeastern coast of the Greek island of Kefalonia, Apostolata Island Resort & Spa is a family-friendly 5 star hotel. Here you have the crystal clear waters of the sea in front of you and the 1628m summit of Mount Ainos behind you, a designated national park. The rocky but scenic Porto Skala Beach is just over 1km to the south, with alternative options to the north.
The well-equipped spa offers a wide range of treatments. If you wish to benefit from more than one, book your own personal tailor-made journey. Relieve tension in your neck and shoulders with an Indian Head Massage or maybe indulge in an aromatherapy experience, the choice is yours. The Jacuzzi and gym are available to Apostolata Island guests free of charge, other services may incur an additional charge.
The kids' club offers a range of games and activities for younger guests. There's also a playground and children’s pool, where they can have fun and make new friends. While the little ones are away enjoying themselves, you may wish to go for a swim in the infinity pool or take it easy and chill on a sunlounger, while sipping a cocktail from the bar.
Sea Pearl is the hotel’s buffet restaurant, featuring show cooking. Early breakfasts are available on request, while for those who like a lie-in, it remains open after 10am for a continental style first meal. Ostako offers a more formal a la carte experience, while Zephyros serves fresh fish, Italian dishes and snacks poolside. After dinner, relax in the Ionian Emerald lounge bar with your favourite digestif.
Standard rooms are a generous 26m2 and have a balcony or terrace. They also feature air conditioning, WiFi, a TV, coffee making facilities and a mini bar. Superior options can accommodate up to three guests, while four can share a Family room. If you love swimming and want the ultimate in luxury, why not upgrade to the suite with a private pool. Offering 65m2 of space, a relaxing living area and a sea view from your spacious terrace and pool, what more could you ask for?
A complimentary shuttle bus service is offered, operating to both the charming resort of Skala and the picturesque village of Poros. For the energetic guests, the national park area around Mount Ainos provides an opportunity for hiking in the fir forests on its slopes. If you wish to climb to the top, you don’t have to walk the whole way, as you can drive part way up. You may even spot some wild mountain ponies on the way. There are also numerous impressive caves to explore on the island, some come with their own tales from Greek folklore.

Absolutely loved our stay here
Absolutely loved this resort!! Was made to feel so welcome from the moment we walked in the door, we checked in so easily given complimentary bottles of water, our key to our room (806) and a young lad came to grab our bags and take us to our room. The room was a suite with private pool, the room was clean, Spacious and beautiful. The views across the sea were breathtaking and missed waking up to the view this morning!! The resort is built on the side of a cliff so is very hilly but we called the receptionist anytime we wanted to go anywhere and they sent a golf buggy to fetch us. This option is a life saver as hubby has a bad leg and a bad asthmatic so the golf buggy was amazing!! We stayed bed and breakfast, breakfast was fine for me the usual buffet style of hot and cold food but hubby wasn’t so keen on it. We ate at the poolside restaurant every single night!! The food was hot, tasty & delicious! Roubini the waitress there was absolutely lovely to us and made us feel so welcome every night, highly recommend here, hubby loved the spicy Greek sausages so had that pretty much every night I tried alsorts and it was all very good. The free shuttle into the main part of skala is fabulous, but because it was coming to the end of the season 1.5hrs was enuff to explore, shop and stop at the bakery which was delicious. The bus drops and picks up at the same place and the driver tells you where you need to go to visit the town :) The spa/jacuzzi was heaven too, I wish we’d booked into use it everyday but we didn’t, but next time(I’m sure we will be back!) we will try to book in everyday. Again the ladies in there are lovely so welcoming and offer complimentary bottle of water. The little gift shop is lovely too and offers a wide range of products/snacks/gifts as well as hair plaiting, I had my hair plaited on the Sunday and it lasted till we got home. Thank you Apostolata island resort and spa you made out first visit to Kefalonia amazing and we can’t wait to visit again Emma & Simon
It is the experience that matters.
We had a lovely time at this hotel and the location for walking is good too. We had a big room with view of the pool and sea, big balcony and even real removable coat hangers in wardrobes. Whether a hotel is two star or five star, it is the experience that matters and for us everything was just what we needed. A bit of uphill walking to expand our chest, with beautiful sea views, nice plants, pleasant steps to walk on. Being looked after and everything provided by kind staff. Sitting in the bath looking at the sea. Waking up to sea view and rising sun. Outside terrace with fantastic views for breakfast and dinner. Very reasonable drinks prices and food price at the pool, food was better than what we had anywhere outside the hotel. Breakfast and evening buffet was very good, we loved the food, we were half board and had all our evening meals at the hotel. Very useful shuttle to Skala with a friendly driver. After a few years of searching where to stay in Kefalonia, I was very happy with our choice. Now a bit about the walks with the goats, we did a walk every day. 1) Walk down to Skala or back up to the hotel. 2)Take the shuttle to Poros, carry on walking past the last hotel along the sea shore and back, taxi back to the hotel. Beautiful! 3)Walk from the hotel passing the treatment plant, take the map with you and make your choice. So relaxing, the views and the goats. 4) Walk up to old Skala. 5) Take a taxi from Skala to Ag, georgios (just past Pastra) and walk to Poros. We were very happy with our walks. Very much recommend this hotel for a holiday in Kefalonia. And the weather was fantastic.
No Frills
Have just returned from the Apostolata Island Resort and Spa, having booked two rooms for ourselves and family. The bedrooms were big with lovely sea views and big balconies. Bathrooms had mould and cheap fittings. We were only given one key per room which was quite inconvenient at times. Also, having to pay to use the room safe and get a key from reception was something I haven’t experienced in any hotel before. Surely the safe should be free? It’s in the hotel’s interests to ensure that guest’s valuables are kept secure. There were no themed dining nights. Desserts were very repetitive and ice cream was hard and poor quality. Lovely freshly baked bread and good quality butter. No eggs/omelettes cooked to order at breakfast which again, in a 5 star hotel, surprised me. Lovely big pool but extremely cold. No little extras at this hotel (not even paper coasters at the bar to prevent the glass table from getting soaked from your drinks) & just very basic bathroom toiletries which, along with the two teabags provided, were not replaced. Towels changed daily but rooms not cleaned or waste bins emptied on more than two occasions. Having to complain whilst you are on holiday isn’t the solution. It shouldn’t be like that in the first place! Hotel very rundown. It’s not acceptable to still be using covid as an excuse for failing to get repairs underway. A hotel with a 5 star rating conveys an element of luxury. In my opinion, there is absolutely nothing luxurious about the Apostolata island resort & spa!
