Not a 4 star hotel

Jun 2022 | 21oanag

The rooms in the main building were very small, especially for those with children and a lot of luggage. The breakfast was the same every day, and the food not tasty at all. The coffee machines ran out of service very often, the juices were everything but natural. Also, there was a very arrogant receptionist- i don’t know his name, he was tall and wore glasses- never greeted any tourist! When you asked for help you felt like you were scoulded. On the good side- the kids had a good time at the swimming pool and at the water park, but that’s about it. The rooms in the Ionian Sea View are way better.

Fabulous holiday - exceeded expectations!

Exceeded expectations - fab holiday! Wasn't sure what to expect as often Greek 4 star feels like UK 3 star but we were impressed and the hotel exceed exceeded our expectations for the price paid. We were in a new building infront of the splash park, with new bathroom, great shower, daily cleaning and fresh sheets/ towels every 1-2 days. The food had a good selection - always plain pasta/sauce/chips/plain rice/salad etc for picky eaters and then a tasty selection of different Greek foods and maybe Polish foods (some stuff I didn't recognise). Salad bar, bread, cheese etc stayed similar and then meats/ fish rotated so a good variety - they also had pizza, nuggets, fish fingers etc at different points during the week. I love Greek food so was happy. Hubby a bit more picky, so started to tire of food slightly towards end of the week (even in 5 star all-inclusives he gets the same) but overall fresh, tasty, good variety and should find something for everyone. Didn't partake in pool bar snacks aside from ice cream as with 3 large meals a day, didn't feel the need but they looked like they had a few basic bits on offer. The entertainment was excellent and really enjoyed the stretching in the morning, the whole family joined aqua aerobics and kids loved mini club and kids disco - the programme is every day a part from Saturdays and includes stretching class, aqua class, kids drop off sessions twice a day, water volley/ table tennis etc, kids disco/ party dances 9-10pm, followed by an hour of family entertainment (quiz/dance/karoke) etc. The staff were great and although our kids are a bit older (8 and 10) they still loved the kids club and evening entertainment. We hired a car from porto lixouri and got a great deal (much better than airport companies) and picked up and dropped vehicle to the airport. Driving is an experience but if you can handle driving on the right and don't mind breathtaking mountainous/hair pin bends then would definitely recommend a car to visit: - Xi beach - 10 mins from hotel - Megas laxos Beach - 15 miss from hotel - Anti samos beach (1.15hr from hotel but totally worth it) and Sami - there's a great crepe shop there! - myrtos beach - melisanni caves - drogarati cave - donkey trekking (near the caves but book ahead and no trekking on the weekend - this meant we got to go visit the donkeys but sadly not trek as we weren't organised enough/ left to the weekend but kids would have loved to, so plan ahead) - old vlachata ghost village - abandoned village destroyed in the earth quake. - Argostoli Harbour/ Bridge for spotting sea turtles - wish we'd been organised enough to book the glass bottom boat but left this till our last day/on the way back to airport and we ran out of time/you need to plan ahead as only do 4/or 8 hr cruises. - you can also easily get the ferry to and from lixouri/argostoli which run every 30 mins and takes about 20 mins to cross. We did this with the car to and from the airport and it was fun to arrive by ferry. Trickiest thing is knowing where to queue with the car as not well signposted but the queue starts to form 10-15 before the boat arrives so just follow the line! And for sat nav don't put in argostoli marina as takes you to the other side of the bay - just input ferry to argostoli/lixouri and then google maps on the mobile works well! Back to the hotel - water park was great, all inclusive not included here but nice to have a drink/ different type of ice cream for a change and they'll charge to your room and you can settle at reception if you can't be bothered to carry cash around. The little beach is a few minutes away and not outstanding but pretty enough and the best thing about it is its really shallow/safe for kids to swim and be in the water. Take your snorkel stuff - we saw fish in all the beaches we visited! The hotel also seem to have acted on a couple of previous reviews - there is now a toaster at breakfast and bathroom had soap and shower/shampoo dispenser on the wall. The only things that still need further improvement I think, was that on a couple of busier days the coffee machines ran out of milk and lines started to form. A couple of filter coffee pots and some plain milk would probably suffice for lots of people who aren't bothered about machine cappuccino etc and would be quicker for everyone to self serve. A startling amount of disposable plastic cups used at the bar as everyone uses once and then gets more, and don't think they're recycled - not sure how to cure the plastic use but a plastic recycle bin would appease the conscience. Overall fabulous holiday, great hotel, amazing staff, great value, beautiful island. Thank you for a memorable holiday!

Fabulous holiday

Just returned from a 1 week stay at the hotel We arrived late at night so meals had finished but there was sandwiches and juice and water in our room. We where shown to our rooms by the man who greats you at meal times he remembers everyone ones room number . He's fantastic Room Room was small but it's only where you sleep so it didn't bother us to much . It was cleaned everyday and new towels Food Food was hit and miss was always something to eat but finding stuff to go with it was hard Pool We spent most of the time at the water park its great water isn't to deep pool staff are great the lady on the slides is very helpful. Drinks aren't included in the water park Beach Simply wow so warm and shallow great for a paddle . Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone I think they should do an all-inclusive plus option so waterpark drinks even basic are included There is room to leave the cases in after check out so you leave them in lobby bar and have to shower in the water park that's the only thing I didn't like .
