Karavados Beach

Karavados Beach Hotel is within walking distance of Karavados, a coastal resort on Kefalonia, the largest of the Greek Ionian islands. It's surrounded by olive groves and pine forests, and is a short stroll from St Thomas Beach, a sandy stretch of coastline bordered by the Ionian Sea. In the centre of Karavados you can find traditional Greek bars and restaurants if you fancy trying the local delicacies. Karavados Beach Hotel has two outdoor swimming pools, one for adults and one for children, which are surrounded by a sun terrace that overlooks the ocean. The outdoor areas are home to greenery such as palm trees. For younger guests, there's a water slide attached to the kids' pool. The hotel's interior design is warm and bright, with sunny tones that create a Mediterranean feel. You can choose from two restaurants offering meals throughout the day. At one you can eat buffet style, and at the other you can order from the menu. You can enjoy food in an outdoor seating area on a terrace that has views of the sea and surrounding countryside. At Karavados Beach Hotel, the restaurant bar serves refreshments from mid-morning to late evening so you can keep your drink topped up.

Karavados Beach Hotel is a 400m walk from St Thomas Beach and 2km from the centre of Karavados itself, a resort renowned for its whitewashed houses with terracotta roofs. The centre of Lourdas is a 6km drive from the hotel. The capital of the island, Argostoli, is within driving distance and attracts tourists with its boutiques, tavernas and museums. From Kefalonia, you can take a boat trip to the island of Ithaca, the setting of Homer's The Odyssey, or spend the day exploring the beaches in Zante. Perhaps the most famous here is a cove with high white cliffs and a shipwreck.

At Karavados Beach Hotel, you can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at the buffet restaurant. Both international food and Greek specialities are available here. At the a la carte restaurant, which is open for dinner, you can order meals inspired by the local area as well as the mainland.

You can relax around the pool area with local and international spirits, beer, tea, cocktails or coffee from the bar at the hotel's restaurant.

Rooms at Karavados Beach Hotel are airy and bright with dark wooden furnishings and colourful accents. All come with a balcony or terrace and air conditioning.

A view of paradise

Arrived late, very swift efficient check in. All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There is a good size pool ideal for swimming with a smaller kiddies pool. Pool areas are well maintained and there is a lifeguard on duty everyday from 10am to 6pm. Rooms are serviced daily with change of sheets and towels provided every other day. All rooms have air con at no extra cost. Balcony is very small, just fits 2 chairs and a table but the views from the hotel are amazing, absolutely stunning. Our stay was on a bed and breakfast basis, food was bit limited but very nice. Ate twice here in the evening, both times the meals were good. Bar prices are reasonable, staff again very friendly. There are a couple of beaches within walking distance, Thomas beach is 10mins walk with 2 tavernas, one only open from 12-4. The second beach at Trapezaki is beautiful with a beach bar and sunbeds. Just along the beach is Denis taverna, great food but book in as gets very busy. There are a couple of tavernas within walking distance though it is quite hilly if you have mobility problems. Great base for exploring the island, recommend car hire.

Nice but needs updating

We have stayed at the hotel 3 times, first time was 4 years ago…..fast forward to this visit….The hotel is in an absolutely beautiful position, lovely setting with gorgeous views. The pool is great, plenty of sunbeds to relax and take in the splendid views. I am disappointed that the rooms have not been updated at all, they were dated back in 2018 and was surprised to see them exactly the same. The hotel could be so much better if money was spent on updating and investing in more entertainment and better food options ( the hotel is very remote and therefore you do need a car to travel to tavernas and beaches). I personally would stay there again just because of the peaceful surroundings but just wish it would be updated.

Curb appeal fantastic rooms not so

Just finishing our holiday at Karavados Beach hotel, I can see why the good reviews and having discussed what star too give I feel pressured to give 4 but it’s more 3.5. It’s a good base, we’ve not hired a car but I can see why people do as it’s very limited around, Curb appeal is amazing, grounds well maintained and the pool is good. No scramble for pool beds. The bar sells reasonably priced drinks and the staff are awesome. We’re just Bed and Breakfast I would say the half board menu looks limited, food quality is fair though. Negative is the rooms are a bit tired and dated especially the bathrooms and beds but this is reflected in the price, views amazing. A great base too see Kefalonia only book a week.
