This aparthotel is located on the central street in the beautiful resort of Stalida, approximately 400m from the sandy beach. The centre of the village with its shops, restaurants and bars is within a 10-minute stroll, while guests can find a charming local bakery offering out-of-the-oven goodies just 100 metres away. The latter is also the perfect place to get bread for a hearty breakfast prepared in the well-equipped kitchens of the apartments and enjoyed on the balcony. After it one can relax on the sun loungers around the outdoor pool and sip an espresso or if it is already getting warmer an iced coffee. The local bus stop is just 30 metres away and from there one can reach the town of Malia with its Minoan area ruins, in about 15 minutes or so.

Old and run down, would have been average 20 years ago.x
Not a bad location. Poor swimming pool, no room safe, no WiFi to speak of, old tired rooms with old grubby furnishings. Photo makes it look 100% better than the reality. They charge extra for AC and a locker, which is out in the open at the reception desk.
Needs a lot more love - pretty disappointing
This was my surprise 40th birthday holiday booked lovingly by my partner (who doesn’t usually do the holiday bookings). I’m not one for leaving negative reviews unless I feel it’s absolutely necessary so I can warn future travellers. All pictures are glamourised and not reality. Such a shame. We arrived after check in closed quite late and we were assured we’d be given instructions left somewhere prominent with the key to our room. It was totally pitch black and we had to really search for a teeny tiny sign written in pencil stuck to the reception window. No keys anywhere to be seen. Directions to the room were pretty illegible but we got there in the end. No number on our door but it was next to 33 and luckily the key was in the lock. First impressions were very bad. Not what any of the photos looked like on their website or on Love Holiday. Basic is an understatement. No notes to welcome us, tell us wifi code or numbers to call if any issues. I went down and found the wifi code on the same scribbled note as our check in instructions. Wifi however was pretty non-existent. The two beds were like solid, narrow, little camp beds. So uncomfortable with springs sticking out. No character to the room - just a white box. No windows bar the terrace doors that didn’t shut properly or lock. The balcony looked out onto the other side of the dilapidated building so no natural light came in during the day. The shower had no holder. No hand soap on sink. No TV, just wires sticking out the wall where a TV was or should be. No complimentary bottles of water in the fridge - bearing in mind we arrived after midnight, so we had to go out to find some water. My partner was SO upset. He assured me they’d clearly got the room booking wrong as the photos for the room he’d booked were nothing like this and we’d speak to them in the morning to see if we could change/upgrade. The only thing good about this room was the air con was actually cold. In the morning we were told by Stavros to wait for his wife to get back at 1pm. So at 1pm we returned to be told that Maria his wife wouldn’t be returning. We had to plead with him to do something for us. Not friendly at all (as other reviews suggest). So he spoke to Maria on the phone (under duress) and said he could show us room 15. This room is situated above reception at the front of the block. It looked marginally better with slightly comfier beds and at least had a pool view, so we said we’d take it - it came at an extra cost of €60. This room is right on the main road and the traffic noise is appalling. Any desire to sit on the balcony was diminished as soon as we heard the cars zooming by. The fridge is old and rusty. No TV in this room either. Wifi still cuts in and out even though we’re right above reception. The balcony is ridiculously narrow and is open to the stairwell round the side so anyone can come onto it. The shower base leaks all into the bathroom so it’s more like a wet room and we had to mop it up after every shower. However, despite all this, we were slightly happier in this room. The layout was better and the beds were much more comfortable. When we met Maria the next day she was friendlier than her husband but still said the room we were given originally was definitely the one we booked. Danny is adamant this isn’t the case. We have found out since then, that there is an area of the apartments that have been recently renovated. So these were obviously the ones advertised which Danny thought he was booking. It shouldn’t be like that - why should it be luck of the draw if you’re in the refurbished part or the old part?! Saying that, the whole place is really in need of some love and attention. The pool is murky and uninviting and the general area around is untidy and unkempt. It’s sooo sad, because if this was all looked after properly it could be so lovely. Even the wire holding the room key and the room electric card, is a health hazard, cutting my finger on bits of wire sticking out. I get that it’s “budget” and you get what you pay for but this place is a huge disappointment. I’ve given 2 stars as they moved us into another room (for an extra €60 mind). I’m sorry Maria and Stavros. My review is not meant to offend - I just hope you are listening to your customers and can make Iraklis what it has the potential to be.
A pretty poor place for a holiday stay, despite the photos
I spent a few days here based on how the rooms looked in the photos, but the camera doesn't always tell the truth. And I think I may have been given a bad room. I was told by the lady that they had given the room reserved for me to other guests who had extended there stay; 'Ok, thanks for that'. The room I got was large, but it didn't have a double bed - 'We don't promise a double bed on the website' - no, but you could have moved the two single beds together and put a double bedsheet on like you said you were going to do (they didn't). My balcony faced a dull mountain and a building undergoing renovation when the booking stated that it would face 'the courtyard', which is really nothing more than the space in between apartments where the rubbish is accumulated each day. The balcony was no fun to relax of an evening because the view was horrible and there was no wifi - 'We don't promise wifi in the rooms, only in the public areas' - this area is basically the space around the reception (which doubles as the owners' kitchen) and the pool. I couldn't get wifi there either; in fact, wifi was only available when you were literally sat at the reception. I don’t particularly like to give bad reviews, but this place put a bit of a downer on what had up until that point been a lovely little solo break staying at Levante Apartments. Iraklis just isn't a comfortable place to stay for a holiday. The pool is small and looked a bit murky, there's no real vibe or entertainment, and if you get a three bed room, you might have a bedroom in the kitchen area with no air-con, and if you open a window or door, the aircon switches off. The photographer really did a good job with the photos though. And that one at the front with people lay on the grass? That’s a PRIVATE apartment so you don’t get to use it.
