Set in its own gardens, Anastasia Hotel offers simple rooms near Stalis, on Crete's north eastern coast. The hotel is a short walk from the white sands of Ikaros Beach. It's also steps from the centre of Stalis, with its old Venetian streets lined with bars, restaurants and traditional Greek tavernas. Renovated for summer 2018, the building has a stone coloured exterior with contrasting windows and a green wood canopy. The hotel's stone paved pool areas are dotted with trees and have views of the neighbouring hills. Rooms have white walls with light coloured floor tiles and wooden furniture plus French doors leading onto a balcony or terrace. The hotel has two main outdoor swimming pools, one of which has an integrated area for children. There's also a separate kids' pool. For some relaxing downtime, you can book a treatment at the spa (Apr-Oct), while children can have fun at the kids' club, which offers activities including clay modelling, treasure hunts and face painting. Younger guests can also spend time in the playground and games room. In the summer there's evening entertainment, which includes karaoke, bingo and the occasional Greek night. The hotel has a currency exchange and a shop for those last-minute essentials.
Anastasia Hotel is 650m from Ikaros Beach, which is known for its shallow waters. It's 1.2km from Stalis, where you can get the boat to Spinalonga Island, with its ancient castle and walking trails. You'll be 400m from the nearest supermarket. Further afield, the local water park and Crete Golf Club are both within driving distance. If you like shopping, you could take a day trip to Crete's capital city, Heraklion, which has plenty of boutiques, shopping centres and markets. While you're there, you could also wander amid the Cretan architecture or sit at a pavement cafÈ and watch the world go by.
Anastasia Hotel has a buffet restaurant that opens for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It offers Greek, Italian and English cuisine, including full English and continental breakfasts in the morning. The bar serves snacks, along with local beers and wines, cocktails, soft drinks, tea and coffee.
You can swim in the pool or simply stretch out in the shade with a drink. If you're feeling active, you can play football or basketball.
Rooms at the Anastasia Hotel have a fridge and dining area. They also come with air conditioning and a TV. Cots are available.

Can't wait to come back
My family and I had an amazing stay here. The food was great, we loved the quiz nights, the pools and football pitch are excellent for children. The view from our balcony was beautiful. The entire hotel is kept very clean, our room was spotless. The location is good and Stalis and Malia are within walking distance, there's also a bus stop nearby which we used to visit Herkalion. We will be back!
Hot, hot, Spot
I stayed at the Anastasia hotel for a week with my whole family (including grandkids). The hotel is located perfectly, which makes it easy to walk to many different places, including Malia. The hotel was clean and there is free air con! The food could be better, I’m a vegetarian and the options were limited, which was slightly disappointing. I do have to say however, that the highlight of the hotel, was Theodore! He is the most attentive, caring, helpful and hardworking employee! He’s an absolute star, also made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay the best it could be. Every hotel should have a Theodore!
Great staff
We booked a week here at the last minute and had a pretty good idea of what to expect. The best thing about this hotel is the amazing staff, particularly those in Reception and the bar and dining room staff. The cleaners were not that friendly and seemed to be under pressure. There is no room cleaning on Sundays, which is not uncommon. However, I do think that the bins in the bathrooms should be emptied every day, bearing in mind that paper cannot be put down the toilets. I was told before arrival that toiletries were provided. However, a few days before the end of our stay the cleaners stopped replenishing these. When I asked for more shower gel at Reception I was told that they had run out. This remained the case for the rest of our stay. The pool areas are very clean, but the sunbeds are in need of replacement, as many were broken and uncomfortable. By far the worst thing about this hotel was the food. The poor quality and choice for the evening meal was particularly poor and I spoke to a number of returning guests who were of the same opinion. This aspect would definitely deter us from staying again. There is a large pizza oven and barbecue next to the pool, but these were never used which was a real shame.
