Atermono Boutique Resort & Spa opened in 2019 and offers you a luxury stay close to the old town of Rethymno, on the northern coast of Crete. Relax by the infinity pool, work out in the gym, read in the library or party at the nightclub. You can also venture out to top up your tan on the long sandy beach, just steps from the hotel, where sunloungers and umbrellas await you.
The fully equipped spa offers a wide range of massages, allowing you to choose the one which will relax you the most. Afterwards, visit the sauna or go for a gentle swim in the indoor heated pool.
Guests of Atermono can start the day with a gourmet buffet breakfast featuring show cooking in the main restaurant. Later on, the roof garden eatery serves meals on an a la carte basis, with the majority of the ingredients being sourced locally on the island. Two bars offer a range of drinks, from coffees to cocktails. In the evening, enjoy a glass of wine as a live band performs.
When it comes to room types, terms like standard, basic and economy don’t exist at Atermono. Deluxe options (30m2) feature a furnished private balcony, air conditioning, WiFi, a sofa, a smart TV with satellite channels, a mini fridge, a kettle and complimentary chocolate, biscuits and bottled water. The Deluxe split level (40m2) has the bedroom upstairs and a living area downstairs, providing more of a homely feel. If you’re looking for something even more luxurious, why not book one with a private pool?
Rethymno (accessible by hire car or public bus) is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Greece. The Venetian fortress, dating from the 1500s, was built to protect the town from pirates and Turkish invaders. Offering panoramic views over the town and open until 8pm, you may choose to explore it as the sun sets to get that extra special photo for your social feed. The town was also ruled by the Turks, so today you will find a scattering of Ottoman domes and minarets behind the 16th century buildings. Also, don’t miss the Rimondi fountain, built in 1626 to provide drinking water to the town, while the historic harbour is well worth a visit. But be warned, the aromas from the waterfront tavernas, cafés and fish restaurants may tempt you in.
If you plan to go further afield, the concierge service is available to help you with organising tours and booking tickets. The hotel also offers car parking, luggage storage and a laundry service.
