One of the best hotel in Kreta

One of the best in Kreta. The service was so nice, the food and restaurants so delicious. The rooms are large with comfortable furnitures. Everywhere is clean and nice. The entraitenement was in top. The stuff is helpeful and very socials. We will come back to this hotel

Little Gem but lacking in atmosphere!

I have just returned from a 9 night holiday with my sisters and their partners. I must say we had a memorable time. Our room was an executive apartment which was comfortable however i felt the cleaning could be improved. It was quite quiet at the hotel and we had no problem getting a sunbed by the pool. This may have been because of the time of year. The atmosphere was very relaxing but a little too quiet. No music in the bar area even in the evening. Such a shame as there was nowhere local to listen to any music and have a good time. There was a singer one night which really livened the place up ! Loved the coffee machine and the ice cream which was served between 5 and 6 pm. The hotel was all inclusive and the food was varied and plentiful. The ambience in the restaurant was that of a canteen. Some refinements in the buffet area such as tablecloths and wine served to the table would be an improvement. The scraping of plates into a slop bucket was a bit distasteful to say the least. Such a shame as this little complex was a gem and the staff were very accommodating.

Quiet, relaxing break..not for those wanting entertainment or with kids!

I would like to give Maleme mare a Good, not average but not very good! ! The resort is quiet, ideal for adults, not really much to do for kids, in fact they might be missing a trick by not making it an adults only resort! Our flight was delayed so we arrived after midnight and despite being told by email that someone would be there when we arrived there was no one to be seen and everything was locked up. There were 4 sets of keys left on a table but we had no idea which were ours. After a phone call someone did eventually appear from their accommodation to tell us which were our rooms. Our rooms were modern and bright with sea views unless you are on the ground floor. The kitchenettes are not very well equipped, with random items, some rooms had glasses others cups, no tea spoons, All that is needed really is the facility and provisions to make tea and coffee but although there is a kettle and a strange coffee machine (that none of us could fathom out) you might not have a cup or a teaspoon. If you are lucky to have tea and sugar when you arrive they are not replenished so you have to take more from the restaurant and buy milk from the shop. Beds are comfy, maids come in each day but only do the bare minimum. Showers are nice and powerful but in some rooms could leak under the glass door and cause a mini flood! There were 6 of us in our party initially with 4 rooms but 3 of us stayed on for extra days so moved rooms so experienced 6 different rooms. Hence why I have experience of a good selection of rooms and their facilities! Pool areas are lovely, but if you are after music around the pool or aqua aerobics this isn't the place for you. In fact if you want any entertainment this probably isn't going to be your ideal holiday. There is nothing in the day and entertainment only 2 nights a week. On the other nights they do not even play music in the bar area so very little atmosphere. The resort has a few shops and tavernas within walking distance but if you want more bars and restaurants you can take a bus into Platanias or Chania. The beach is seconds from the resort but it is a stony beach. The food is on the whole good but the 'restaurant' lacked in ambiance! Lunch and dinner were very similar with nothing like a panini, pizza or jacket potato on offer for lunch so you are eating full on meals twice a day. It is very much like a school canteen where you are expected to take your own plates and scrape them off. I feel the whole eating experience could have been made more enjoyable by adding some nice tablecloths and laying the tables and maybe a little table service if only at the evening meal. Having said this we paid such a reasonable room rate that we didn't mind paying to eat out a few times. Be aware that the all inclusive drinks finish at 10.30 after which you have to pay but the bar closes at 11 and it is off to bed. On the whole we had a lovely quiet break so much so that us ladies stayed on for an extra 3 nights! Stavros the manager is really helpful if a little bonkers. To sum it up if you are after a quiet break away with very little entertainment this is your place. I would not advise you bring kids here as they would probably be bored.
