Only ok
The rooms are small & have an awkward layout. There’s a lot of pine, but also lots of lighting and lots of mirrors so it’s not overly dull. There was No kettle or Iron but these can be gotten on request, subject to availability In turn this meant No tea or coffee facilities , when you get a kettle it comes with 2 small cups and you need your own tea/coffee/milk. They don’t offer water complimentary in the room, we did receive a bowl of complimentary fruit on arrival and it was really fresh. The fridge is a nice size for buying a few things & cold. Our Room was clean, the carpet was clean & the bed also clean. The bed is Very small, not at all luxurious or comfy but it was ok. The pillows were Hard & lumpy. There’s a frosted Glass bathroom door with a big gap right around, so there’s no privacy. There weren’t any complimentary products in the bathroom like shower cap, cotton buds etc There was shower gel, shampoo conditioner and thats it, all Rituals brand. The rooms Have black out curtains, when the window is open its extremely noisy of course but once closed the windows are pretty much soundproof. The air conditioning is NON EXISTENT and needs upgrading. It did not work at all and for February our room was absolutely roasting! We went to reception and they said it is centrally managed and said it would not blow out cold air because it is a winter month. The weather was 18 degrees on average each day, too warm to not have air con. We kept the blackout curtains pulled during the day & the window open for air to come in. The room was still like a sauna every day. The staff were nice, we didn’t need them much but when we did they were very accommodating. The cleaner did a great job. One thing I was annoyed by, was housekeeping knocking to check the minibar. They asked to come in to check it while we were there, I felt it would be rude to say no so I let them in, but the thing is my husband was using the bathroom and I was resting. I felt like this could have been done another time, while we were out of the room. On average this room is €85 per night, so I personally wouldn’t expect much better for the price in its location. The location is great, it’s almost a straight walk for 20 mins to Montseraki square. A few bits nearby like a bazaar and a bet makers, pharmacy, bakery etc but for restaurants and bars you need to walk 15-20 mins. The food in the restaurant wasn’t great, and it was not cheap for Greece. The rooftop restaurant & bar were closed until the end of April, this seemed silly as other hotels with rooftop bars were open for business. We stayed here for 2 weeks so we needed a budget hotel, but we also stayed at the Athens Capital hotel which I’d highly recommend over this one, it is pure luxury right beside the grand Bretagne & St George hotel, so in a nice upmarket location. I’m used to luxury so Overall I would only rate this hotel 4/10*
Four friends
Great looking hotel and reception staff were very helpful it’s situated in a great part of tge city with access to where ever you want to visit. A little disappointed with the room as given a twin room so two singles pushed together. I found the window would not close fully leaving a little noise from the main road out front. I would have liked an iron and the little extras you would expect from a high end hotel I also found that if you didn’t put the do not disturb sign on the door for breakfast (8am) the maid would be inside on returning to your room. The towels look A little worse for wear ( old). Breakfast was ok depending when you turned up on a couple of the day no tables where ready to had to wait and I found that the coffee machine gives out a very small cup Of coffee and the toaster seemed to be set up wrong but generally a nice average breakfast While being advised about the bar, pool etc you couldn’t use them as not open or no staff present disappointing. We did have s nice pleasant stay but it’s memorial from the city’s attractions not the hotel
Birthday celebrations in Athens
The hotel was lovely with friendly front desk staff. Check in was quick and the spa was a bonus (free). We got upgraded to the superior room on arrival. The room didn't have a great view but it was quiet with comfortable beds, jacuzzi bath and a mini bar. They do a lovely. well stocked buffet breakfast which was enjoyable. I booked a massage and 2 facials for my daughters 20th Birthday (4th). Over £200 euros which was quite expensive but, as it was for my daughter, I didn't mind splashing out on the treat. What I didn't like was being hustled to pay £212 more for the treatments they used on you. I politely decline of course. Make sure you tell the therapists before your treatments that you don't want any further services. It can become awkward when you've had a lovely relaxing time only for this to be asked of you. My therapists name was Popi. The roof top bar and pool wasn't opened due to it not being in season but I'd stay here again during the warm seasons so I can experience the pool:)
