Sofianna Resort & Spa is a fantastic find - a 4-star family-friendly hotel that has everything you need for the kids combined with all the swish style of a sophisticated retreat. Plus, you’ll be waking up each morning just 3km from the heart of Paphos, putting the prom, sandy beaches and beautiful harbour in easy reach of your room.
What more could you ask for? Well, how about a pair of glittering pools and a mini kids’ splash park (April to October, min/max height restrictions apply) dishing up all the fun in the sun you can handle! Or if you’re planning a winter getaway, head indoors for warm-water swimming and laid-back lounging time. It’s open November to March, when the outdoor pools are closed.
Life on dry land is just as enticing, with everything from a kids’ club for 3 to 11 year olds (April to October, depending on numbers) to sports and games for everyone. Practise your spike on the volleyball court, test your boules skills or let those arrows fly to the bull’s eye with a round or two of darts. And if you’re there during the summer, the Sofianna’s entertainment team will be primed to keep you on your toes.
Craving another pina colada or need to top up on H2O? With a choice of bars, you won’t have far to wander, wherever you decide to chill. Go All Inclusive and non-branded, non-bottled drinks are covered from 10am to midnight.
And as for the food, you’ve all sorts of tasty treats to chow down on. Like flavourful burgers at the all-day snack spot, ice cream by the pool, and a Sunday carvery to make your mouth water. It’s just one of the weekly themed meals at the buffet restaurant, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. Even better, book All Inclusive status and your food’s included from 7am to 9.30pm.
For a change of dining scenery, make a reservation at Mesogios. It’s the hotel’s very own meze restaurant, so prepare to work your way through an array of Mediterranean flavours. You’ll get a credit towards your meal if you’re on the All Inclusive plan (free for under 2s), though house drinks are still, well, on the house.
If you’re ready to step away from it all for an hour or two, sneak off to the hush of the Aphrodite spa. Top picks include the Sense Crete herbal treatment, pampering Flow and Glow face yoga, and blissful tailor-made massages. There’s also a gym, sauna and whirlpool.
When it comes to relaxing in your own hideaway, take your pick from a variety of 172 rooms and suites. Interconnecting and family rooms are available, giving you and your brood all the space you need. Or go all-out with a swim-up option and you can splash straight into the water from your private terrace. Whichever you choose, you’ll get twin or double beds, air conditioning/heating, satellite TV, high-speed Wi-Fi, tea/coffee facilities, a mini fridge and a laptop-size safe.
Economy rooms (2 adults), ideal for couples, have a walk-in shower, a terrace and a land view. Standard, pool view and swim-up double/twin rooms (up to 2 adults and 1 child) are designed for couples or small families, with bath/shower and a furnished balcony or terrace. Land and pool view Superior rooms (up to 2 adults and 2 children) are more spacious. Land and pool view Deluxe rooms (up to 2 adults and 2 children or 3 adults and 1 child) have a separate bedroom.
For the ultimate in classy stays, swim-up junior suites (up to 2 adults and 2 children) and two-bedroom family suites with land or pool view (up to 4 adults and 1 child) are also available.
Of course, holidays aren’t only about the perfect hotel! Days out are a breeze from Sofianna Resort & Spa, whether you stroll to Alykes Beach (800m) with its shops, bars and restaurants, or go exploring by bike, car or the excellent local buses. Paphos harbour’s just 2km away, famous for its history - including a medieval castle. And don’t miss the incredible mosaics at Kato Paphos Archaeological Park! After all, it’s only 1km away. That’s less than 15 minutes’ walk! Seeking the biggest (and wettest) family day out? Then pack your swimsuits for the awesome Aphrodite Waterpark, 5km away.
Please note that some facilities and services at Sofianna Resort & Spa are seasonal so won’t all be available at once. For example, the lounge bar is open from November to March only, when one of the pool bars is closed for the winter.

Great if your looking for a cat hotel
Arrived towards the end of Nov to celebrate husbands birthday. The first couple of days were good however as the holiday went in things started to go downhill, as we were not aware that the hotel closed down completely on 1stNov. Apart from the fact that the food options got less and less by the say, my main issue was the cats. There was a message asking guest not to feed the cats, however the women in guest shop was the one feeding the cats. When we spoke to the guest relations manager they are well.aware of this az previous seasons they take the cats to the rescue centre at the end of the session! And she said the guests love the cats. So if you don't want to share your holiday in a cats hotel, then just would say avoid. Also we mentioned to the guest relations manager that if was my husbands birthday the say we arrived and she did nothing!! You got a bottle of sparkling wine for winning the music quiz, but nothing for my.husband on his birthday. Simply we would not return, which is a dhamd as location of the hotel is good, shame the management running it don't care as much as the lower staff
Good for families, not couples
Once we got to the hotel we were greeted at check in, it was around the 10:45pm, people were having drinks etc in different places inside as it was raining outside (we picked a bad week as it rained for a few days of our holiday but that can’t be helped), it looked really nice and staff were very friendly. We were given ham & cheese sandwiches - they were terrible, they may as well have not given us anything they were tiny and really really stale - that is meant as constructive feedback, I truly believe you just should not bother with them as it’s giving people something to complain about straight away. Our bags were brought up to our rooms which was nice and the person who did so was lovely and friendly. The room we got was a superior family room with pool view. There was only 2 of us so we were pleased with this, but if we were an actual family then we wouldn’t be. The bed that would be for the children (the sofa) was terrible, really hard. Our beds in the actual bedroom were better, but not really that comfortable, very firm. The balcony was small but nice and we did have a nice pool view as advertised. The doors had locks on them (bedroom door and bathroom door) which I thought was a nice bit of extra security. Plenty of room to hang up clothes aswell - wardrobe in the bedroom which had 2 sides and a set of drawers in and a little wardrobe in the hall way. Huge fan of the dressing area as there was a hairdryer and a light up mirror - really happy with this as most hotels never have a good ‘get ready’ area and lighting. Shower/bath was fine, no complaints. As we did get there late the first night my partner kept going downstairs to the bar to get us drinks, it said bar closes 12:30 but we found that yes that is the case, but all inclusive stops at midnight - considering the price, I think really all inclusive should be until the bar closes - but again I understand that a midnight finish on all inclusive can be the case sometimes. Jet2 reps are only there Thursdays Fridays and Sundays and only for a few hours. So as we arrived Sunday evening, we did not see them until almost the end of our stay - not great. Sunbed’s we’re absolutely ridiculous, it states you are not meant to reserve them yet by 7am all of the Sunbed’s surrounding the pool had towels on them. If it states don’t reserve them then surely the hotel should just enforce that? We were all inclusive and the drinks menu is pretty good, of course it isn’t branded drinks which is expected so no complaints there, some nice cocktails etc. Food wise we really cannot complain, it was the same things at breakfast each day but there was lots of different options so you didn’t actually need to eat the same thing every day if you didn’t want to - big plus from me that there was American style pancakes everyday which were so nice. Lunch’s varied in choice, all great. Dinner was themed nights - our favourite was the Asian night, really lovely. Other themes were Italian, Mexican, American/bbq, Cypriot/Sunday roast. Cleaners were great, towels are changed every 2nd day which was fine. All the staff were lovely actually. The entertainment staff were lovely but the actual shows were not to our taste, but it is a family hotel and we were there as a couple so. The hotel includes a spa aswell but we didn’t use it so can’t comment on that bit. If you are a family I think it’s an ideal hotel for the facilities available, if you’re a couple and don’t mind lots of kids then again it’s good for you aswell. If you don’t want lots of kids though then this hotel isn’t for you. Overall this isn’t a hotel we’d go back to but purely due to our specific taste, strongly recommend if you’re a family.
Great hotel great staff.
Have just returned home after a great week in this hotel. It was my first visit and will certainly go again. Food was excellent and Chef Stelio and staff all were excellent. Highly recommend all areas of the hotel. Alyna at the pool bar great fun . Guest manager so accommodating I found the bed too hard and she sent a topper right away to sort it out. Thank you to all for a great week .
