Lovely stay in Lapad.
I stayed at the 'Royal Neptun Hotel' in Babin Kuk, Croatia from 25th Sept - 2nd Oct, 2022. I travelled with my friend Karen and we had two rooms for solo use. Paid a little extra for a sea view and it was really worth it. Fantastic sea views and it was a real pleasure to sit on the balcony in the evening watching the sunset with a drink before heading out to dinner. Overall it's a very good hotel that I'd recommend to anyone and would gladly stay there again. It's part of a complex along with another four hotels which you can also use their facilities. For instance the hotel next door had a rooftop pool which we really enjoyed making use of. It's part of the 'Royal' group of hotels. Overall the Neptun is very clean. The cleaning staff did a superb job every morning and were always very cheerful, charming and helpful. That goes for the staff on reception and the excellent bar staff. One barman tried the same joke most nights handing me a half and my lady friend my pint, but that's all part of the fun and I enjoyed the banter and friendship. The hotel is in a superb spot. It's right on the front and there's a lovely walk that takes you into Lapad the nearest town. Going the other way takes you to 'Acapulco' beach which is a wonderful place for a swim. And the views of Dubrovnik Bay there are lovely too. Lapad is well worth spending an hour or two at. It's pedestrianised with a lovely main thoroughfare with lots of bars and restaurants. We spent quite a few evenings there. If you're not a walker just up from the Neptun Hotel is a bus stop which takes you directly into Dubrovnik old town. Easy peasy, drops you off just outside the old town walls. The only thing to be aware of is that the bus stop returning can get very busy. The only thing I wasn't so keen on was that the whole complex of Hotels appear to use the same breakfast restaurant. This can be very busy. Food wasn't a problem, the staff keep it refilled constantly, I just thought if the weather wasn't so nice and you couldn't sit outside as we did it might be quite hard to find a table but that's just a minor thing and didn't happen whilst I stayed there. The breakfast food was nice. We were staying on a b&b basis but used the various restaurants within the complex a few times for our meals and enjoyed what we ordered. Along the front on the way to/from Lapad is the 'Cave Bar' which really is a lovely place, it's part of another hotel, (I'd like to say the 'More' but can't rightly remember), one night there was a D.J but don't worry it's not really a night club and anyone would fit in there. I really enjoyed my stay at the Royal Neptun and it's sisters. Good swimming pools, with an indoor one if the weather's poor, a couple of decent bars, well appointed rooms with comfortable beds and polite and helpful staff what's not to like?
Great resort to explore Dubrovnik from
Great resort at this time of year. The concept is that If you stay in any of the hotels, you can use the facilities of all of them. Breakfast buffet was pretty good for variety and volume, but coffee was inconsistent and a bit of a scrum when busy. Rooms are large and modern, and you have 8 pools to choose from (2 are 18+ only). Steps and terraces to the sea too. Ten min Uber (€10 euro each way) from Old Town. Very chilled, would come again.
Great hotel, staff and location
Excellent hotel in lovely location. The Neptun is one of five Royal hotels in the location, you can use the facilities in any of the hotels. There is a lovely boardwalk from the hotel into Dubrovnik town (about 20mins) the walk to the old town is about 3 miles in total from the hotel. Our room was a sea view balcony room, the room was spotless with a comfy bed, the maid came in daily and was excellent. We stayed half board, this included buffet breakfast and buffet evening meal, if you wanted to eat at any of the other restaurants on site you had to pay but got a 20% discount. My only gripe, and the reason for a 4 star review was the cold plates and Luke warm food in the restaurant, I am not blaming the staff for this as they were great, but I have noted this being criticised in previous reviews, answered by the management but nothing done to resolve it. Come on Royal hotels, it is in your gift to ensure this is rectified and obtain 5 star reviews in future.
