Puerto Palace is set in the hills on the outskirts of Puerto de la Cruz, in Spain's Tenerife. There's a volcanic sand beach within walking distance of this family-friendly hotel. The centre of the resort is also within walking distance, so you won't be far from the restaurants, shops and entertainment. Puerto Palace has three outdoor pools, one of them heated, and a kids' pool. Surrounding the pool area and buildings are gardens and trees with space to relax. When you're ready for a cold drink, the hotel has two bars, including a pool bar. There's also a restaurant on site. You'll have a choice of activities during your stay, such as fitness classes or basketball. The hotel has tennis and squash courts, with equipment available to hire. Children might like to have a round of mini golf. There's also a darts board. After a session in the gym you could unwind in the sauna. The hotel has a menu of massage and beauty treatments which you can book. In the evening, there's live shows and music, and for children, there's a kids' disco. If you'd like an evening stroll, you can wander down to the promenade, where many of the cafe's and bars stay open late.
Puerto Palace is in a residential area, 1.5km from the centre of Puerto de la Cruz. The hotel runs a shuttle bus into the resort during the day. In the centre of the resort there are plenty of restaurants and shops. There are several beaches in Puerto de la Cruz. The closest to the hotel is Playa Jardin, 1.5km away. This beach has black sand and is known for its waterfront sculpture park, where you can swim among the artwork. There's a golf course 5km away from the hotel, or you could visit the old town of La Orotava, which is 6km away.
The restaurant at Puerto Palace is a buffet restaurant and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A kids' buffet and kids' menu are available. During the day, you can get snacks from either of the hotel bars. The indoor bar stays open until late. There's a supermarket 300m away from the hotel.
Loro Parque theme park is one of Tenerife's most popular attractions. The theme park is 1.5km away and is connected to the resort by a road train.

Good pools, good bedroom but far away from town.
The hotel is a bit dated but bedrooms are very spacious, shame there wasn't a kettle in the bedroom and no room service! Receptionist was great and everything was super clean (well done to cleaning team left rooms amazingly clean and smelling good). Pool area very good and nice jacuzzis. If you want to see the town and beach get ready for a hike, it's very steep if you're walking there. Bar prices way too expensive and we booked transfer through the hotel but the transfer left us there standing and drove away..we had to get a taxi instead, ruined our experience. Good breakfast. Dinner ok, good variety but a bit poor quality. All in all good hotel.
Lovely hotel - 4 out of 5!
Firstly I need to highlight I was here the second week in January so very much out of season but I felt it was very comfortable in regard to the amount of guests staying. The hotel itself was very nice indeed with very pleasant staff and super clean and tidy. I liked the layout with tons either overlooking the sea to the front or the pool area to the back. My wife and I had a room on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool which was fine for us. Only issues were the bed was quite firm whereas I'm more used to a medium memory foam one at home but it was fine. The other issue was somehow the noise from the dining area seemed to emanate up through the floors due to it being all tiled so no sound damping. No problem from the second night onwards as I had earplugs but if you get the opportunity to pick your room location then go for opposite side to the dining room. Taking about the dining, the food was ok with a decent selection available. Was more difficult to get a table as it was busy from just after 8am. The walk down to the seafront is just under a mile which is fine but it is a fairly steep climb back up to the hotel so if I had any walking concerns I'd take that into consideration. Happy hour was 5pm to 6pm and I thought the prices were very reasonable and my wife really enjoyed the pina coladas while I enjoyed the local beer. 2 for the price of 1 and change from a £10 so no complaints there. To sum it up, definitely 4 stars in my opinion and worth exactly what we paid for it.
The gem that is the Puerto Palace.
We would very highly recommend the Puerto Palace to anyone. It is a big hotel but never feels crowded. Although the restaurant is busy there are always tables. The value in every aspect is extremely good for a hotel of it's quality. The staff, many of whom have been there for many years, are extremely friendly and efficient. The food is plentiful, varied and good. The hotel is extremely clean and the facilities are excellent. Although not in the centre of town, which sometimes can be an advantage, there is a courtesy bus going into the centre six times most days with five return times. We find the quarter of an hour walk to the town helpful to offset the effects of over eating. Last month was our 20th year at The Puerto Palace and although we only stay for two weeks each year, we do meet several British visitors who go for several months a year.
