Arenas del Mar Hotel

Arenas del Mar Hotel is an adults-only hotel in the bustling resort town of El Medano on the southern coast of Tenerife, one of Spain's Canary Islands. The area is known for its green tropical north and rocky south with a mix of sandy beaches. Whitewashed walls, bright interiors and pops of colour in the architecture give the resort a modern feel. Steps from the hotel is the nearest beach, where you can enjoy the long stretches of sand and scenic views over the Mediterranean Sea. The main town of El Medano is a short drive from the hotel where you'll find a range of shops, restaurants and bars to explore, as well as popular attractions such as a local water park and amusement centre. The hotel has one heated outdoor pool where you can swim and relax during the day. If you enjoy staying active on holiday, you can join one of the aqua aerobics sessions. You can also hit the gym for a workout. To relax, you can choose from a range of massages and beauty treatments at the resort spa. Here, you'll also find a sauna and Turkish bath. For some fun leisure time with friends, you can try your hand at a few games of darts, boules or pool. You can grab drinks throughout the day from the three bars, and try a variety of local and international cuisine at the two restaurants. If you want to discover more of El Medano's nightlife, you can head to the local clubs and music venues after relaxing over dinner.

La Jacquita beach is 5m from rooms at the resort, where you can relax under some shade or have fun with the kids with buckets and spades. If you need to pick up drinks, snacks or travel items during your stay, you can visit the local supermarket which is 10m from the hotel. El Medano's main town centre is 1,5km from Kn Arenas del Mar and has bars and restaurants serving traditional Spanish food. The town has public transport facilities within easy reach if you want to travel around the south coast. If you like to play golf, a drive of 8km lands you at Golf del Sur. For a fun day trip, you can drive 22km to the local water park, where you'll find a variety of slides, rides and a wave machine.

The hotel has three bars, including one by the pool, where you can pick up a range of drinks and snacks throughout the day to enjoy on your sun lounger. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is available at the main buffet restaurant, and the ala carte restaurant serves dinner.

Arenas del Mar provides a variety of entertainment three times per week, usually including live shows and music performances.

All rooms have air conditioning and a TV with satellite channels.

Sleep Quality

Very noisy and extremely windy

Jun 2022 | ttigger2

This hotel would be nice if it wasn’t at the end of the airport runway extremely loud planes flying over all the time. Also gale force winds so make sure you take at least 4 beach towel clips with you and expect to lose your hats!!! Noisy at night as the hotel has open area from bar areas going up to roof with all rooms off so doesn’t matter what floor you are on can hear noise until early hours. also loud music by pool. Hotel staff friendly, all inclusive not bad pool nice and warm junior suite a good size although air con could do with getting a lot cooler very difficult to sleep as too hot and bathroom grouting need a good scrub.

Just gets better.. Outstanding

A return to this Hotel - which did not disappoint, in fact it just improves.. The first and striking thing is how friendly, and welcoming all the staff are.. They are brilliant.. All were beyond great, but Manuel in the restaurant, and Ileana in the pool bar were a joy.. From the moment you arrive, it is relaxing and enjoyable.. We had two rooms for this visit, a Junior Suite and a Corner Junior Suite both with sea views, on an all inclusive basis.. They were fabulous rooms, the views were great.. None of us could ask for more, with air conditioning, a fridge, and a modern tv.. The rooms are spotless clean, and kept that way with staff visiting every day.. The free wifi in the rooms and throughout the hotel is easy to use and very efficient - I listened to my radio stations on my radio app without any problems - it was faultless.. The restaurant was buffet style, and the variety and quality of food was outstanding.. There is something for everyone.. All our group gained a few pounds during our stay, and I would think most people would suffer the same enjoyment!! The chef and staff do a wonderful job.. The pool area is always clean and a great place to relax and sunbathe.. The nearest thing to a "grumble" i could find, was that the heated pool was very very heated - i think the info board had it at 31'.. It was like getting into a bath, and I wouldn't have my own bath that warm.. So the poolside showers were actually an easier way to cool down.. Because of Covid, our previous visits had restrictions on entertainment - it legally wasn't allowed.. But entertainment is now back for those that want it.. There is just no need to leave the hotel complex.. Location wise, the hotel is in a beautiful seafront location, but slightly isolated.. Just one other restaurant nearby - but we didn't feel any need to not use the hotel restaurant.. There is also a little independent supermarket on site which is surprisingly reasonable for any little extras you may yearn.. And the hotel has a Spa with sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, etc which is a fantastic relaxing therapeutic facility well worth a visit.. We loved it.. The walk into the nearest town is totally flat and quite easy and pleasant, if you can tear yourself from the hotel for a few hours.. We walked to the Saturday market in El Medano square and had a look around the quaint Canarian town.. Our family party of 4 are all looking to return to the hotel again as soon as we can.. The hotel is relaxing, and simply quality, at incredible value.. Hotel Arenas del Mar - see you again soon!! Hopefully very soon!!

Brilliant hotel and staff

Ok Ill start by saying we traveled with tui. DO NOT DO THIS!!! There was no rep, no communication and our transfer to take us to the airport didnt even show up! Obviously this is nothing to do with the hotel and doesn't affect my review here, but it needed to be said if anyone is considering this. Anyway onto the hotel. Ill get the negatives out of the way first. Cons - Rooms in desperate need of an update. Cracked wood in the door frames, peeling paint, also no locks on the bathroom door? - A lot of food at dinner and lunch wasn't labelled so we had no idea what it was. Probably led to more waste than needed. Also it would have been nice to know what 'theme' the dinner would be earlier in the day. - Likewise with entertainment. There was no timetable or anything that we could see. - Balcony furniture was a very basic 2 plastic chairs and a small table, would have been nicer even a couple of pillows or nicer chairs. - Likewise the balcony wall was very high, so you couldnt sit and people watch like I like to do. That said, there were FAR more pros than cons! Pros - The staff here are a huge positive. They were always polite and smiling and couldnt do enough for you. Huge thank you to Giuia (sorry if I spelt your name wrong) on reception yesterday who was so helpful getting us to the airport after Tui dumped us. - Cleaning was constant. Ok yes our room wasn't cleaned until late in the day sometimes but I think this is due to a lack of staff, the poor woman we saw each day was working so hard and when the room was cleaned it was done well. Not easy when that black sand gets everywhere! - The food was amazing! We were there 4 days and managed to put on half a stone each lol. A good selection and well made. - The views and location of the hotel was brilliant. Yes it was very windy there but thats a given for the area. Plus if there wasn't the wind it would have been far too hot to sit out. Dont be fooled by the wind! Still wear sun cream! - Drinks are plentiful on all inclusive. Good selection of spirits, wine and cocktails and they are not weak servings eiher. - The hotel itself is well laid out, lots of seating inside and out and lots of sun loungers around the pool. - The spa is lovely. We didnt have any treatments but had a pass to use the pools etc which was lovely and relaxing. Well worth a visit to break up the day. - Theres a small supermarket next door. Good for snacks or other bits you may need. The town is also a short walk away down the beach with the usual shops, bars and resturants. Good for a walk one day to get out and about. Or bigger shopping centers or markets only a 25 euro taxi ride away. All in all a few small improvements could be made, but a great hotel and I would certainly visit again. :)
