Lovely hotel, great for families

Visited for a winter break over New Years. Nice quality all inclusive buffet with food to meet most peoples’ tastes and needs. The New Years dinner was lovely with lots of effort put into it. The main pool is a good size with lots of loungers and a bar & snacks close by. Towels are usually out by 7.15am so set the alarm if you want a good spot (I guess this is the norm anyway now). As the resort is in a valley, the Sun comes over the mountain at one side and then retreats over the other side so you get less sun than an open / beach location hotel. Aqua park is fun but be ready for the salt water as it can take you by surprise. Minimum height for slides is mostly 1.2m. Check out the beach and water sports as they are great, if a little expensive. The resort entertainment is ok but can be quite loud and yobbish at times until around midnight. All the room’s balconies face into it so you can’t really escape the cheesy music and terrible singing…

What I expected

The negative reviews could really put you off this hotel:- Receptionist was helpful and explained everything clearly Room, spacious, clean, bottle of water on the fridge. Asked for extra pillows received. Towels yes s rough but so what! Food- it’s all inclusive catering for all tastes and several nationalities. Worked hard New Years Eve, lovely beef. I could easily make a starter and main course every night. Yes they are seating at set times but you are given plenty of time to eat. Yes good could be hotter but then parents would complain the children caught themselves on the hot food trays. Location: it’s all inclusive small array of shops and eateries on the beach so you have options. Overall: it’s all inclusive it’s clean tidy and food is fine with a good enough selection. Drinks are weak but you can always pay. For what I’ve paid I’m happy.

Excellent value for money and would visit this place again.

I don’t usually write reviews but i was the guy who booked this hotel for four families to travel to just before Christmas 2021. After booking i thought id read some reviews while researching the holiday. (Usually do this first) I got abit worried about the negative reviews but thought at the end of the day all family is together and its a Jet2 (also TUI) hotel. How bad can it be. I was right. We had a great experience. We went all inclusive. Reception - Friendly, helpful and welcoming. Altho only one member on usually so abit of waiting in line to get served. The rooms were clean, spacious and with amazing views. You have a fridge and safe. The room was cleaned by the lovely cleaning staff everyday. The toilet and bathroom was fine. Don’t worry about the rooms! Now there was a slight bit of wall paper peeling in the corner of the bathroom and the bath wasnt brand new. But that didnt impact me or my holiday. We got toiletries provided and warm water to shower in. The food - A good wide range of food and drink. We were allotted the same hour time slot for all families and we managed to eat and feed 5 children in that time frame easily. The food though strangley isn’t piping hot (even when they cook it right infront of you) but is warm and eatable. That explains them negative reviews. But our party was happy with it. No qualms. We were eating clean tasty food and alot of us put weight on over the holiday :-) This may also have had something to do with the lovely cocktails on offer. The spirits were also fine (typical all inclusive local spirits). The wine did the job. Sangria was great. I wasnt a fan of the beer served. The facilities - the heated hotel pool was great (bit deep for some of the kids but looked after by lifeguard. Please remember we went in december. The sea- water park was a no go. The water was absolutely freezing and this explained why it was empty whenever we looked from our hotel. This should only be thought about if u are going in the summer months. I mean i was swimming in the sea 5 of the 7 days but i didnt enter the water here. The gym had a good range of weights but could do with a few more machines. There was a pool table and table tennis table albeit hidden in the corner (maybe helped with wind disturbance). We didnt use the spa facilities and so cant comment. The location - in a valley with shared entertainment with other 2-3 hotels. We always got space but maybe this was due to covid and low tourist numbers. Taurrito is 20 mins on bus to main city puerto rico for 1.4 euro pp. 12 euro in taxi (15 mins). Bit more to do here if want to hit shops/pubs/bars etc The taurrito beach is fine. We went swimming in it and the kids loved the waves. Bit choppier than puerto rico beach. But the dolpin tour actually parks up at taurrito for u to jump in here so it cant be that bad. Puerto rico which is nearby has more calmer water but abit more stones under the feet when entering the water (kids complaining off). I went for a swim in here too. Its almost closed off from the sea by rocks on both sides hence the calmer water i think. The weather was great 20-23 degrees celcius between 16-23rd december. The experience we had, we would go again. A holiday is what u make of it. The hotel and its staff did its part. The rest is upto u and the weather ☀️☀️☀️
