Again we had a wonderful week with family in this hotel, the swim up room was perfect the grand children had great fun and enjoyed the beach as well.We can certainly recommend this hotel to everyone. The food is excellent and has great variety.

Ok but not for a younger demographic

We found this hotel to be of 4 star quality, and massively catered towards people over 60 years old, to the point it sometimes felt alienating. Service: very attentive staff when you needed something. However, lots of things weren't explained, and we think it's because there's lots of returning visitors. E.g, not told how to change our towels, wasn't clear whether you would be seated or someone would come and seat you in the different places, don't think there was room service available (wasn't clear if there was), food options weren't explained clearly. Room: nice room with the private pool. Private pool was a good size for two people. We first got a room overlooking another hotel which was disappointing, after asking to be moved we got put in a room facing the beach and pool which was a much better experience. Food: breakfast had a good selection. Dinner options were disappointing in the choice available, we didn't enjoy the buffet at all. 2 of the restaurants had a rule of "trousers for gentleman" which reception didn't explain to us. We had an incident where we were accepted to the table without realising shorts weren't allowed, one of the older clientele started getting rowdy and the staff asked us to change and made a scene.. Given the much higher quality restaurants right outside, it made us not want to return to any of them which we didn't. Pools: on the smaller side for a hotel that claims to be five stars. Thankfully we had our private pool but would have been disappointed if we didn't have a private pool. The pool water was cold for the first 5 days and could have done with being heated. Beach: literally a one minute walk, it's right out the back of the hotel and is right next to the dunes. Great location and massive beach. Overall: I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone under the age of 60, it is definitely playing to that demographic with the way it is set up and some of their policies are antequated.

Superb Hotel Staff and Grounds

Jun 2022 | Chris C

As a retired but very active couple, this hotel was superb and well up to the high, expected, Riu standard. All the facilities are well covered in all the other reviews. The rooms have been refurbished to a high standard and are very pleasant to be on. We stayed in a "garden block" room by choice and asked for a second floor room. We were not disappointed either as the grounds are both immense and superbly well cared for, so a real shame when some parents start letting their kids run amok! The gardens aren't there to let kids climb trees for example and is an insult to the staff that some parents permit and encourage it. On that point it is pretty obvious that the Riu Palace hotels are not IMO suited or geared up to families. Personally I'd prefer them to be adults only for the benefit of all. Resteraunts were superb and staff were exemplary. Reception gave us a superb and helpful welcome despite the late evening arrival. All staff went above and beyond to ensure that we had a good holiday. Spot on Riu, don't drop your standards.
