Iberostar Playa Gaviotas is an All Inclusive hotel in Jandia, a popular seaside resort on the island of Fuerteventura. The family-friendly hotel offers a wide range of daily activities for kids and adults, and is a short walk from Jandia Beach, a white-sand beach with calm waters for swimming. A short drive from the hotel you can find Jandia Golf Course and the resort centre of Morro Jable, home to a number of restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Iberostar Playa Gaviotas has three pools, including an infinity pool overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, an activity pool and a dedicated pool for children. Balinese beds on the palm tree-dotted sun terrace provide the opportunity to relax, while a gym and organised activities including beach volleyball, football, tennis, aerobics and basketball allow you to stay active throughout your holiday. If you're looking to unwind, you can use the heated whirlpool or neighbouring hotel spa, which has a sauna and Turkish bath. At the spa you relax with a massage or beauty treatment, such as a deep cleansing facial, manicure or pedicure. For younger guests, Iberostar Playa Gaviotas has a kids and teen club where children can make new friends and enjoy face painting and water games, as well as a games room with consoles. Six evenings of the week, the hotel puts on family-friendly entertainment such as live shows and karaoke. Iberostar Playa Gaviotas has five bars and two restaurants, a buffet and a' la carte restaurant, that offer international, Italian, and Mediterranean cuisines. A children's menu is available during lunch and dinner, and drinks and snacks are available throughout the day.
Iberostar Playa Gaviotas is a 200m walk from Jandia Beach and 4km from Morro Jable, a former fishing village on the southern tip of the island. From Morro Jable you can visit Playa del Matorral, a wide sandy beach with clear waters backed by greenery, which has a lighthouse and the skeleton of a sperm whale on display. Jandia Natural Park is a 13km drive from the hotel and is filled with natural pools, sand dunes, and native flora and fauna. Costa Calma is 18km away from the hotel and offers a bustling nightlife with many shops, bars, restaurants and nightclubs. If you fancy a day trip, the island capital of Puerto Rosario is an 86km drive from the hotel. Here you can browse designer boutiques at Central Comercial las Rotondas, admire modern art at the outdoor sculpture park, learn about local history at the Miguel de Unamuno House Museum or relax on the sands of Playa Chica.
At Iberostar Playa Gaviotas, you can eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the buffet restaurant, or have food at the tapas bar, which opens five nights a week. The hotel's bars are open until late and serve snacks, soft drinks, and local and international beers, wines, spirits and cocktails.
At Iberostar Playa Gavitos children can enjoy the water slides at the kids pool, play on the playground, or dance at their own disco.
Rooms at Iberostar Playa Gaviotas are bright and airy with contemporary furnishings. All come with air conditioning, a balcony or terrace, Wi-Fi, minibar and a flatscreen TV.

Enjoyable stay but room for improvement
We stayed as a family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers in a sea view interconnecting family room. We have stayed in an Iberostar hotel in Dominican Republic so perhaps had unrealistically high expectations of this hotel but nonetheless there is room for improvement. Didn't get off to the best start when neither door of the connected rooms would open with the keycards so had to wait 20min for the maintenance man to fix. By this stage it was 10.20pm at night and we had been on the go all day and the receptionist had already sent us to grab some dinner before the restaurant closed. The door issue could have been checked and sorted ahead of our arrival surely?! Or am I expecting too much of a 4 star rated hotel?? Air conditioning in the room was OK but needed to be kept on constantly throughout the day so we left a keycard in the slot to keep it going. The rest of the hotel was really not air conditioned at all and some meal times were extremely uncomfortable with the heat. Noticed a lot of people fanning themselves besides myself! Suspicious about the star prestige area of the restaurant as their air con fans kicked in at exactly 8am every morning but only appeared to be working in that particular area?! I did on one evening complain to a reception staff member about the heat in the reception area and surrounding hotel areas and he just said it was on but not strong enough to cope with the heat.... Iberostar Palace across the road by comparison was like walking into a fridge and their reception area was twice the size. Food was pretty decent most of the time for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Only one or two occasions where I couldn't really find anything nice to eat as I'm not a big meat eater and the fish was always full of bones. Good variety most of the time. The room was clean and in reasonable condition, bathroom slightly dated and tiling could do with a tidy up. Drains were smelly sometimes which caused a smell in the room on walking through the door. We were on the 6th floor so OK views of the beach but higher rooms on the 7th or 8th floor would be better for this. Grounds and general hotel areas are kept extremely clean and well maintained. I noticed damaged areas on the stones and patio area outside around the pool but maintenance team seemed to be on top of the repairs on a regular basis. Access to the beach and walking /running track was great although wheelchair users or anyone unsteady on their feet may find the slope of the hill a bit tricky. Beach was stunning! Pool area kept very clean and pools themselves were cleaned every day. The one big issue we had was people smoking around the pool area and bar terrace. Had to move quite a few times because there are no zoned areas specifically for smokers. It did cause annoyance and really isn't pleasant especially for families with small children or babies. I've got a reactive chest and even more so since having covid a few years ago so the passive smoking really was a constant irritation. This stay has highlighted that 4 star hotels in Europe are definitely not the same standard as 4 star hotels in the Caribbean. By comparison this hotel would be a 3 star to the one we stayed in Dom Rep. It is overall a very good hotel and I would have rated higher if the air conditioning and smoking areas were sorted out. No concierge to help with luggage either and no welcome drinks/flannels... No water sports on the beach... No tea/coffee making facilities either in the room or in the corridors. Small extras like this make a big difference to the overall experience. Hotel staff were very friendly, helpful and extremely hard working... Hats off to all of them and special mention to Delphin, Anna, Phillippe and the house keeping team on the 6th floor.
Excellent (as always)
The stay was really fantastic and enjoyable. We liked everything : the room, the pool, kids' activities (starcamp), the restaurant, the view, the beach, the animation. We want to thank all the staff. We will come back for sure.
Nice all inclusive hotel with fabulous views
Stayed here for 7 nights all inclusive, 2 adults & a child, booked through Jet2 Holidays cost around £1550. Transfer is around 1 hour 45 depending on how many other drop offs. Hotel is located right next door to Iberostar Gaviotas playa Park 4* & Iberostar Fueturventura Palace 5*, however its not possible to use their facilities without paying a hefty €60 per person for the privilege (for Playa Park this is, not sure about the Palace) which I thought was a bit cheeky, we only wanted to use the children's waterslides. We've been to other hotel brands who have been more than happy to let guests use facilities at their other hotel's, so this was a real disappointment. Anyway on arrival we were greeted by a lovely porter who helped us with our luggage & offered us a much needed drink. Much appreciated. As we arrived around 2pm we were advised to go straight to the restaurant for lunch, we checked in after that. Our room was on floor 7 & had a great view of the pool & sea (better than I expected), there was twin beds & a sofa bed made up. The room had white washed walls, with white furniture, it was clean & comfortable. Air con was average (not very powerful but needed none the less so better than a ceiling fan!). There was a fridge & we were provided with two large bottles of water on a daily basis. The balcony had two chairs & a table with a small retractable clothes horse (really could do with being bigger as couldn't hang more than a few items at a time). Bathroom was clean, shower over bath & a bidet that my son thought was a 2nd toilet, much to our amusement when he realised what it was really for! Cleaning & waiting staff are really friendly & pleasant to talk to. All the staff work extremely hard & have long days so hats off to them for their efforts & everywhere is immaculate. There are two large swimming pools, one heated, the other not. The colder one finally got our approval when we experienced extreme heat conditions (it was a godsend!). There's daily activities both for adults & children, in & out of the pool, a bit annoying when your trying to relax but expected. Whilst I'm writing about the pool I'll mention sunbeds, unfortunately these get "reserved" quite early in the morning, the hotel do appear to offer some kind of approach to this (they put a laminated note on your bed if you've left it unattended for more than 45 mins, however this doesn't seem to be the case for everyone as we observed & no one seems remotely bothered by the note, they just remove it & shove it under an umbrella stand). So what's the point? Annoyingly if you can't beat them you have to join them so up one of us gets at 7am to lay on a sunbed until other one joins them. The restaurant: large, lots of seating, different cooking stations, self-serve drinks either end (water, fizzy pop, beer, wine, spirits). Watch out for the STAR PRIVILEGE area, for goodness sake don't sit there if your not part of "that club", you'll get abruptly ushered away (it's not clear though, the only difference i could see were the white linen table cloths covering the whole table where as "standard class" don't!). Note: no one appears to be enforcing long trousers, we witnessed men in shorts nearly every night, most annoying when my partner bought long trousers based on what I read on Iberostar website. Breakfast: lots of variety cooked, continental, omelette station (my favourite), selection of tea bags, coffee machine, fruit juices, champagne if you must. Lunch & dinner: not much between the two really, similar food, chicken, meat, fish, pizza, pasta, plain rice, paella, burgers, sausages, salad, vegan stuff, bread etc. Quite repetitive actually & got rather boring in all honesty (this is no disrespect to the chefs, staff etc who work incredibly hard) it's up to Iberostar to up their game. I personally like themed evenings, Oriental, Mexican, Indian thrown in to the mix. As I write this tonight is our 5th night & we could easily go find a nearby restaurant off site just for something different to eat. They do have another restaurant serving tapas but its the strangest tapas I've ever seen & it would be difficult for my son to find something suitable to eat. Desserts are very good though & have some decent variety along with different ice cream flavours & toppings along with a chocolate fountain! Evening entertainment: most evenings see live entertainment in the Saloon Bar (a large indoor cabaret style area) with rock, motown, pop, acrobatics, tribute acts & musicals, upstairs in the terrace bar there's also live music on a more intimate scale, however on our last night it was a band & they were awesome There's also a bowling alley but we didn't use it. Drinks; pool bar is self-serve beer, water, fizzy pop (coke, fanta, sprite etc), spirits (smirnoff vodka, barcadi, London Gin,) and a selection of wines. The fizzy drinks run out on a regular basis as does the vodka, which is annoying when you fancy an afternoon tipple. The terrace bar serves really nice cocktails & the pop up motito bar does the most amazing strawberry motitos. Both can get very busy though so expect some queuing. Location; it's right on the beach, you have a short walk downhill (yes that means uphill on the way back unfortunately) to the most gorgeous sandy beach, its large so you can spread out. There's a few sectioned off areas with sun loungers which we initially thought would be free (as we thought it was for guests of Iberostar) but after 20 mins or so we were approached for payment (€13.50 for 2 x sunbeds & a parasol) so bring some cash. Today we saw the chipmunks & parrots that's mentioned in other previous reviews, they're very friendly & obviously used to being hand fed by humans (chipmunks that is). We rented two scooters today, picking them up at the beach then riding down to the lighthouse, we had to download the Bird app first, each rental is a €1 pickup cost the 15 cents per minute. Great fun & saves you from heat stroke walking In the blazing The entertainment team work tirelessly to get people involved in daytime activities such as aqua spinning, water polo, basketball etc, they're really good & deserve They also run kids clubs but we didn't use it. Guests; a lot of German, some English, some Spanish, a few French & other nationalities. Activities: table tennis, pool, darts, tennis courts. There's a spa which doesn't seem to be advertised much, this is located at the hotel next door along with cycle hire. If your British except some pushy rude people, people that don't like queuing & people who have no regards for your personal space especially around the buffet, they stand as close as they can get before leaning round you to grab some food, so very annoying! Apart from that we've had a really nice time. Would we return? Probably not, this place is lovely but not for us, too busy, too big, too noisy, can't be bothered with all this getting up early for a sunbed malarkey either. I'd recommend though, give it try see what you think. On a final note, the restaurant waitress who we saw most days, she works down the far end of the restaurant, has tattoos on her arm, you are amazing you always have a smile on your face, your polite & work so very hard, muchas gracias
