Excellence choice to unwind
Amazing clean well run hotel, total indulgence, amazing views near unspoiled beaches. Food was an excellent standard. I have no hesitation going back. Thank you, I’d love to return one day. Good weather is more or less guaranteed here too!
Quiet stay for some rest and relaxation in a privilege room
Overall we really enjoyed the hotel and would gladly return. This is a quiet place and somewhere to relax rather than party. Privilege option highly recommended. Room: We stayed in a privilege room 1303, it was top floor front row to the very left of the hotel with lovely sea views. As there were only 3 rooms on this level, it was super quiet. Far from the main hotel area but we didn't mind this. Mini bar (soft drinks + beer) and safe included, beach towels replaced daily, and lindt chocolates every evening (such a simple thing but loved this!). Only thing we'd change are the chairs on the balcony, they were quite hard and uncomfortable and would prefer loungers, and the cleaning schedule was erratic (one day they came at 9.30am, one day at 3.30pm). Drinks: Very generous portions, cocktails tasty especially the juicy temptation! They do only use local spirits rather than branded ones, but that didn't bother us (ie irish cream instead of baileys). The only one that didn't taste nice was the aperol. Wines were also nice and cava freely available, very clear what was included in AI and enough options for us. Food: Food really does step up when you choose the privilege option, so would recommend this if you want to eat well. Best food was dinner in the privilege restaurant, especially the daily specials. I would say this is on par with a nice chain restaurant. Only thing we had that I wouldn't recommend is the confit cod, was overcooked and dry. This contrasted with the special fish of the day which was much nicer. There was a noticeable drop in quality for breakfast, however it was still nice. Prosciutto and various cheeses available at the privilege buffet, a la carte pancakes and waffles very nice. Where we really struggled was lunch which we thought was super low quality. Had a chicken burger at the pool bar and it was like cardboard, the nachos were served cold with artificial squeezy cheese etc. We found the best options were the privilege ones on the pool bar menu, really liked the tuna, prawns and calamari, shame there was only a few of them. Mike's coffee house did nice milkshakes and cakes (included for privilege AI). There were also sandwiches available in the privilege room. Staff: Generally very friendly, especially Montse she was lovely. A bit overrun in the green bar in the evening after dinner when it gets very crowded, but it was manageable. Grounds: I think the hotel could do some more landscaping to make more private areas, and would have really liked the outdoor pool to be heated as it was freezing cold. Loved sitting on the green bar terrace, chairs comfy and beautiful view. Nice and quiet everywhere with no music blaring. Some small niggles, but overall a great stay! Would recommend signing up as a H10 member and booking direct with an early booking discount code, this gave us 20% off the normal price.
Something very special
I found the service both exceptional and personal. Travelling alone, I did not feel alone because of the friendliness of the staff. The food was both tasty and varied. I found myself trying dishes that I had never tried before and each experience proved delicious. The Playa Esmeralda has the highest standard of cleanliness and the peaceful and quiet atmosphere gave me the opportunity for the relaxing time that I really needed. I could not overstate the excellence of this hotel.
