First holiday for two years

An excellent holiday in a very good hotel. All of the staff were friendly, helpful, polite and professional. Rooms were cleaned thoroughly on a daily basis and the chocolates at evening were a little bonus. Our maid was excellent and good fun to chat to.

Great but could be better

Lovely location right next to a gorgeous beach and a very attractive 4 star hotel. As other reviews have highlighted - it is a large hotel but it is well designed and laid out. Our room was lovely. Also as other reviews have highlighted, a small minority of staff with poor customer service skills let the place down. We had saved up especially to go Privilege but it was not really worth the money. On our first night the Privilege restaurant staff resembled Fawlty Towers - and unfortunately we decided to eat in the main restaurant thereafter. Although we did eat our last meal in the Privilege restaurant and it was much better and more like what you’d expect. All that said, we had a fantastic holiday and whilst we probably won’t visit this H10 hotel again, we will almost certainly use the brand again. Thank you for a lovely (on the whole) week Hotel Esmeralda.

Jet2 holiday to H10 Esmeralda Costa Calma Very impressed with travel arrangements excellent, no check in queues, flights on time, friendly efficient staff. Hotel has potential but needs more attention to customer requests and to understand complaints, especially at reception. The bar and restaurant staff were all pleasant and helpful. Shame the reception staff are not as obliging The hotel public areas were all very clean as were the rooms. We requested a quiet room, with a sea view. we were placed in a room above the pool bar- where all the evening entertainment took place ( in the write up all the evening entertainment was in a separate room , away from where we were.)The room was also positioned next to the main lift shaft- in use all day and night! The excuse was they were re carpeting the entertainment room - why did they not pass on this information to guests? We requested a room change, reluctantly were offered one, but would mean being without a room for 4 hours, we declined this. Then were offered a room where they could move our bags for us in the next hour, this was to an upgraded room ( only extras would be dressing gowns and a coffee pod machine and slightly bigger).On arrival in this room the dressing gowns had been removed and the coffee pods too. How petty considering we had had hardly any sleep for 3 nights by this stage. As music and singing continued until after midnight. The final straw was that on the day of departure we had a late flight ,so asked if we could keep the room until 3 pm, yes we could but at a price of 10 Euros per hour (so another 30 Euros).Also on returning to room after breakfast we had no water until the 12 noon checkout, we questioned this to be told there were issues in the area with the water supply, we were unaware of anyone else having this problem. Overall we had an enjoyable stay in a resort we love with good weather. The hotel was very clean and most of the staff were customer focused and very obliging. Its just a shame that the reception staff do not appear to be customer friendly or be willing to pass on information that affect their guests.ie All menus, drinks and cocktails are accessible only by the App for smart phones. Also guests being sent to rooms late at night not in the main block, that are difficult to find without anybody being available to show you to your room.
