Alua Suites Fuerteventura sits in a fantastic location on the north coast of Fuerteventura, next to the incredible dunes of Corralejo (1.5km) and just 50m from the ‘popcorn’ beach, Playa Vista Lobos (aka Sunset Lounge). You’re also only 20 minutes on foot from the swanky bars and restaurants of Corralejo town.
Surrounded by tropical gardens, this luxurious whitewashed hotel looks like a Moorish palace, bejewelled with eight pools (including two for kids and one for tiny tots). Grown-ups can upgrade to My Favourite Club for exclusive access to two pools, complete with Bali beds, in the adult’s area. When you’re not soaking up the sunshine with a cocktail in hand, there’s plenty to keep you busy. You could show off your topspin on the floodlit tennis courts, join in a game of volleyball, get competitive with five-a-side football and water polo, or stretch out on the yoga mat. If you really want to pick up the pace, you can book water sports at the Beach Club or take your workout to the onsite fitness suite.
Travelling with kids in tow? Your little ones will love the hotel’s vibrant playground and kids’ club (4-12 years). They’ll be able to get crafty with creative cooking workshops, join in with carnival-style fun, sing, play sports and get their faces painted. And when they’re busy making new friends, you can unwind in the hotel spa, with two saunas and a menu of beauty treatments at your fingertips.
When it comes to dining, you’ll be spoilt for choice at Alua Suites Fuerteventura! There’s a sprawling buffet at the main restaurant, Terra Cafe, serving up cook-to-order grills and a huge variety of around-the-world flavours for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And when you want a taste of local cuisine, book into the elegant a la carte, Mare Nubium. If you find yourself peckish during the day, you can help yourself to light bites at the chic dining space, Kentina Pool Club. Guests who have upgraded to the My Favourite Club will also have access to exclusive adult-only dining in the breakfast lounge and a premium a la carte restaurant. As for bars, top up your drinks poolside, grab a glass of wine or gourmet coffee from Agua, or soak up the lively atmosphere at Bar Plaza.
The 383 suites here are modern and spacious, complete with a comfortable lounge area, flat screen TV, balcony or terrace, private bathroom with hairdryer and make-up mirror, mini-fridge and kettle. Upgrade to the My Favourite Club suites for luxe touches and child-free tranquillity.
Alua Suites Fuerteventura is within easy reach of local sights and fantastic attractions. You could walk into Corralejo, an old fishing village near the marina. It’s the perfect place to enjoy freshly caught seafood, traditional tapas, strolls along the sandy beaches and lazy morning markets. From the harbour, you can also hop aboard a ferry to visit the paradisiacal island of Los Lobos. In just 20 minutes you’ll reach its stunning sandy coves.
The real star of the show, however, is Parque Natural de Corralejo, a 10km stretch of unspoilt sand dunes. The site is protected from development and home to desert rabbits, lizards and birds. If you’re exploring the dunes on foot, make sure to pack plenty of water and sunscreen. Keen hikers can climb 300 metres up the Montaña Roja (Red Mountain) volcano. You’ll be rewarded with views of Lanzarote and La Graciosa across the water. Or for a true off-road experience, book yourself onto a buggy tour that will take you up to the volcanic area of Tamaragua. Avid cyclist? Hire a bike from the hotel to explore the volcanic landscapes on two wheels.

Not what we wanted
Resort was noisy with loud animation team constantly organizing / imposing "activities" around the main swimming pool with very loud microphone and loud music. This pool is central to the resort and very close to the suites accommodation. Constant noise with children and teenagers bouncing heavy netballs on concrete base from early until after dark. Constant noise from organised volley ball teams playing for hours in the main activity area next to restaurant and accommodation suites. Pools icy cold. Nowhere comfortable and warm to sit indoors when the weather turned cold in the evenings or in the day. Only chairs avail were outside near the Aqua bar. Very limited all inclusive drinks menus relating to each bar only when they were open and were difficult to understand. Theatre show on limited days started at 2130 which was too late in the cold evenings. We went for a warm relaxing holiday in the sunshine and we didn't get it! Weather turned cold and cloudy with a cold north wind typical of this island. A/C in our room was faulty and couldn't be fixed therefor we could not warm the room and froze although very nice room! Had the website been clearer about the sort of activities run by this hotel we would not have booked. If you like this sort of activity then this hotel is for you. Wonderful helpful staff.
Fantastic place to stay, and clinically clean!
We came here for a relaxing getaway and that’s exactly what we got. There are several pools to choose from so we stayed by the super quiet pool closest to the terra restaurant. The water was chilly at first but lovely and refreshing once I was in. There apparently are other pools that are heated but this was where we preferred. The hotel was immaculately clean. Staff were constantly tending to gardens, hotel facilities and the food/ bar areas were clinical also. Food had variety with salads and fresh foods, as well as delicious hot food that catered to different cuisines each night, but also provided staples of the regular food like pizza/ chips etc for those not want that cuisine that night. The only downside to the food for me were the desserts. The location was good in that you could walk one way to watch the kite surfers, or another way into the town centre and to the port where there are lots of bars/ restaurants. There’s also a shopping centre at the back from the beach. Rooms were spacious and again clean with a huge bed. Wardrobe space was generous and there was also a lounge area. Drinks were the standard all inclusive, with wine, and the spirits being (my opinion) pretty awful. The San Miguel on tap however, was very easy to drink. I didn’t know it was the windy island until just before I left. It did get to me a bit on walks, but in the hotel area I was quite sheltered and wasn’t phased by it. Staff were lovely too, and the cleaning ladies were amazing. They tidied our rooms and made the beds daily if we took the ‘do not disturb’ sign off the door. They certainly went above and beyond with their jobs, and again always friendly. All in all I’d recommend.
Good value for money
This was our first trip to Fuerteventura, although we have been to the Canary Islands many times. Last year we stayed at the Alua Atlantico in Tenerife and, being impressed with the company, thought that we would try Alua again. Overall, the hotel was good. There were one or two slight technical problems in the room (the safe and the kettle) but these were rectified quickly with assistance from Jaime on reception who was exceptional throughout our stay. The room was very good and met all our expectations. The food was good but lacked the variety that we had found in Alua Tenerife and the meat quality was average (Small and bony lamb and pork chops). The Aqua bar in reception was welcoming but too few tables for the numbers of people who prefered it to the louder and bigger Plaza bar. Overall we had a good holiday that was excellent value for money.
