We stayed here for a week and the hotel was a bit bizarre. Room was fine, though there are no lifts so be prepared to lug your suitcase up stairs, and hear traffic throughout the night. Do not trust timings. Happy hour is not when it says it is, and the "complimentary canapes and cocktails" doesn't exist. Each time we went to the bar you never knew what you'd be charged for or what you'd get. Only on the last day did the board list what drinks were included in 2 for 1. On one day, lunch was advertised on their website until 5, listed on their board until 4 but was finished by the time we got there at 3. The beach bar, which is beautifully lit in the evenings, closes for the evening at sunset. The restaurant has a sign that says permanently closed. If you like to swim in the sea, this is NOT the hotel for you. The beach was covered in seaweed most of the week, which I appreciate can't be helped, but no one was clearing it from the shore so it just built up and smelt. When it was clear in the water, the breaker area only got waist deep before you reached the rocks, so not much fun. Outside of the breaker area is beautiful, but rocky. Some of the staff were really unfriendly, apart from the staff in the restaurant at dinner and the ladies in the gift shop, and Alvin, the security guy. Maybe as it was season end staff weren't interested any more? On check out day, we checked out at 9am and I realized I'd left something in the fridge in the room a bit later on (homemade sauce from a market). Went back to reception at 1 and was told to follow a man up to the room (receptionist wasn't friendly). The gent didn't speak to me or even really acknowledge me. We got to the room and housekeeping was there, but the fridge was empty and she said she didn't know anything about what was in the fridge. Neither she or the gent we're interested in helping me, so I had to leave it. Very disappointing. The positive was the hospitality room we could use and shower in before leaving, which was complimentary. The area is also pretty basic. No supermarkets close by, hardly any restaurants - however it is close to pebble beach for the horses, and Carlyle Bay which is beautiful. Hole Town and Speightstown were much better. Lastly, the taxi driver we booked through the hotel at the set rate of $50 charged us more. I would say that this is a good hotel if you're all inclusive, no kids and just like a quick dip in the pool or sea.

Beautiful Barbados

We travelled to Barbados in the Easter holidays and stayed in a Deluxe sea view room at the Coconut Court Hotel. Our room was a corner room on the 2nd to top floor with beautiful views of the beach and sea. The only ‘noise’ we heard at night were the waves and the tree frogs lulling us to sleep-we left our balcony door wide open each night, it was blissful. We stayed on a bed & breakfast basis and the breakfasts were lovely and very plentiful. Our only criticism would be the rigidity of what is included in each breakfast choice. For instance you could order a ham omelette and it came with mushrooms but if you chose a different omelette, that didn’t come with mushrooms you had to pay for them if you wanted some-and they weren’t cheap! We found it odd that you couldn’t just mix and match items for no extra cost, especially as, if you were paying daily, some breakfasts were $45 whilst others were $25 so there didn’t seem to be any rationale with restricting items. Having said that, we loved the food and I’m not complaining! We ate at Jake’s across the road most evenings and the food there was delicious too, especially the coconut crusted Mahi Mahi. The sea was a little lively but it was possible to snorkel right off the beach and there was at least one turtle that frequented the are and we saw her most days. There are plenty of beds and areas of shade if needed. We especially liked the happy hour rum punches each day! We walked to Pebbles Beach on the Sunday morning, it was around 8.45-9am and when we arrived there were several horses with their trainers in the sea, it was amazing to see! When we came to settle our bill upon leaving, we were very pleasantly surprised with the price we paid for all the drinks and food we’d had out of the price we’d paid for B&B. All in all a really good value holiday in a beautiful, traditional hotel. We went to Oistins Fish Fry on the Friday night, the food was lovely and although we found the place a bit ‘seedy’ we enjoyed the experience!

Our Barbados winter holiday

May 2022 | STEVE H

This was our 13th holiday in Barbados and out 5th stay at this family run hotel . We booked a Superior sea view room on top floor .Staff were very freindly as usual and we found the hotel had done some improvents to the hotel and outside area. The beach is very good and safe to swim in with plenty of trees for shade if needed.Security guards watch over the beach area and who were very freindly . BBQ lunches on the beach were very good and alot cheapter than lunch in the restaurant but we did have evening diinner on a couple of occasions with live music.which was very good . Movie watching nights on the beach were a new addition and also free rum punches every evening which was very enjoyable . We hired a car for most of our two week stay which is a must if you want to tour the island but the bus and taxi services are also very good for getting around . Onr this trip we visited Hunts Gardens for the first time a must do . and also did Teds island for the third time and did not disapoint very enjoable day out . We booked a catamaran trip though the hotels tour office . Overall a very relaxing holiday and we are returning in Ocober this year again .
