What’s the weather like in the Maldives in January?
Located in the Indian Ocean, the Maldives enjoy a beautifully mild climate all year round. January falls in the middle of the dry season, so rainfall and humidity are low while winds from the northeast blow away any clouds, meaning skies are clear and blue. Despite being the coolest month of the year, January has warm daily temperatures thanks to the heat of the seas, although there’s a cooling ocean breeze. This makes it one of the most popular months to visit the Maldives. Averages In January, the Maldives has a daily average temperature of around 27ºC during daylight hours, reaching a high of 29ºC, so make sure you pack plenty of sunscreen. At night the temperature drops slightly to 25ºC degrees, while the sea temperature remains a warm 28ºC. During January, the islands have nine hours of sunshine a day while rainfall averages around 75mm, with just five wet days in the month. These are usually around the southern areas of the Maldives. The sun sets around 6.10pm in the evening.
