What's the weather like in the Maldives in August?
There’s warm weather all year round in the Maldives as it sits in the Indian Ocean and is just off the southwest coasts of Sri Lanka and India. With temperatures always high, it’s the amount of rain that changes here with the wet season running from May to October. August is one of the wettest months of the year but you'll still get lots of sun at this time. You'll have less rain if you're in the north due to the south westerly monsoon winds, while winds are stronger in the wet season in general. There’s also higher humidity in August however it’s still a great time to visit.
Averages
The average high in capital Malé is 30ºC in August, making it perfect for enjoying the stunning beaches. Things don't get much cooler in the evenings, which stay at 25ºC, so you won’t need many warm clothes. Don't forget to bring your swimwear as the sea is ideal for swimming at 29ºC.
