    Jamaica weather May

What’s the weather like in Jamaica in May?

In the month of May, Jamaica’s warm climate gets hotter and slightly wetter as the rainy season arrives on the island. Although showers are usually short-lived, it’s worth packing a waterproof to stay dry in case of heavy rain. The weather can be quite humid at this time of year, so you’ll need to wear light layers to stay cool and keep hydrated by drinking lots of water.

    Averages

With an average daytime temperature of 27°C and highs of 30°C, May is very hot in Jamaica. You’ll need to pack a hat, wear plenty of sun cream and seek shade during the hottest part of the day. Montego Bay has around 80mm of rain across the month while Negril sees just over 200mm, but any rain is quite refreshing and often brief. In May the sea is a balmy 28°C, perfect for swimming or snorkelling and with ten hours of sunshine each day it’s a good time of year for relaxing on the beach.
