Puerto Rico Self Catering holidays are the perfect way to make the most of your holiday to Gran Canaria. A modern resort on the south coast of the island, it's one of the sunniest spots in the Canaries, with average summer temperatures reaching up to 25°C.
Puerto Rico's a great base for exploring Gran Canaria, whether you want to hop on the local guagua buses or hire a car. And when you book a Self Catering holiday, you're free to stay out all hours of the day without the worry of missing pre-paid meals at your hotel.
Make sure you try sancocho (a fish casserole), parrot fish with 'wrinkled' potatoes (a Canarian classic), and roast pork leg sandwiches for some lip-smacking local flavours.
Fancy lunch down by Puerto Rico's main beach? It's full of fine, golden sand in a sweeping bay. A lively place that's great for splashing in the cool shallow waters, it's close to plenty of restaurants, bars and cafes, including several on the seafront. Prefer a quieter beach day? Try the easy-to-reach quieter sand spots to the west of Puerto Rico, towards the lovely resort of Maspalomas.
Plus, Puerto Rico has not one but two picturesque harbours, where you can watch fishing boats and yachts sail in and out. How about a bit of jet skiing or speed boating? Or you could take a gentle cruise around the coast in a glass-bottom boat.
