A wonderful holiday!!
It was our first time visiting the Caribbean. We were looking for a holiday that would be romantic, adventurous with some relaxing too. After reading a little about the islands we felt St Lucia had the best of everything, the lush rainforest, the sandy beaches and the snorkelling. These things were all stunning but it is the people that really make it. The staff at Bay Gardens Beach Resort were so smiley, happy, welcoming and helpful. Our bedroom (no.415) was large, as was the bed. The garden view overlooked the beautiful hills and waterway with a glimpse of pigeon island too so we were very chuffed. The room was cleaned daily with fresh towels and Nikita was very good with her towel art. Kelvin was the first smiley face we met in the restaurant and a brilliant introduction for our first evening. We wanted to take the local bus and he helped us by telling us where to get the bus and what number we would need to get to the market in Castries along with many other helpful tips and info throughout our 3 week stay. Alison was the Queen of the egg station, you can have eggs cooked however you like - smiley, friendly and eggcellent at her job (pardon the pun) we miss her already!! All the bar staff, waiters and waitresses are so friendly, attentive, hard working and well presented. It was my first time staying in a resort, I wasn't sure what I would make of 'entertainment' but I thought it was brilliant without taking over. The music by the pool and regular boogying from staff (whilst working was fantastic - I plan to create a compilation of this to add. There are two restaurants, both overlooking the ocean,Hi Tide which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sea Grapes would open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays for dinner and would usually have either the steel pan man playing, saxophonist or Curtis the Pianist - we loved every evening here accompanied by the musicians - absolutely book a table at reception. Tours - We did a rainforest hike but if I were to do it all again we would have picked ziplining because you get to go on the aerial tram, walk through some of the rainforest and zipline too so best of everything!! We went to the street party in Gros Islet on the Friday organised via the hotel. Worth seeing! We got the local bus to Castries but the hotel do offer a tour too. We did a day excursion to Soufriere which is an absolute must do. We went with Benny Tours but there are so many companies just depends what sort of group size you want to go with but the watersports part of the hotel do also offer a smaller boat trip there. We went snorkelling - so many colourful fish, saw a small waterfall, the mud baths and lunch overlooking sugar beach. (P.S don't touch the rope around the snorkelling section, swim under it. It has fire coral which gave several people including my partner blisters) We did a trip over to Pigeon Island which we throughly enjoyed. We went up each peak which was challenging, definitely need to be fit, healthy and wear trainers or hiking shoes. Take your swim stuff and have a swim on the beach there. We easily spent the day over there so got the water taxi after breaky and got the 4.30pm back. The water taxi from the hotel is $15pp round trip. $10pp entrance fee paid on the island. The spa was really lovely, we had several couples massages so book in for one of those to fully relax and enjoy your holiday. I would definitely recommend booking all inclusive. You get coupons for massages, unlimited cocktails and food at both restaurants which takes the pressure off extra holiday expenses and then you can go out if you want to try other places. Jaqcues a 5 minute walk away is a beautiful spot on the water and worth booking in advance for dinner. We also got the shuttle to the other Bay Gardens Hotel and walked to the Harbour Club for some freshly made sushi and live music on a Sunday. Special mention to Kelvin, Michael, Denver, Teddy for his big smile and dance moves Keesha, Hilaria, you all made our trip extra special along with so many others at the hotel. Harmony you had top notch service skills and shall go far!! I reckon a 2 week holiday would give one enough time to enjoy the resort, island and relax time too. The bus journey is a wild one and takes about 2hrs to the main airport. Take US dollars to pay for tours and EC dollars for everything else, food, bus etc
Day Pass for family
Great beach and pool for day excursion from cruise ship. Restaurant food quality and choice was excellent. Staff was courteous and helpful. Water activities paddle boards and kayaks were good. Paddle boats weren’t all that great Very nice pool
Nice but not excellent
Hotel is nice, rooms are clea,, large and comfortable. Half of staff is excellent, the other half is poor quality and looks unhappy to work there. Water park is the only valid activity for kids. The location facing the beach is excellent.
