Sharing our experience of a holiday to remember forever.
We have just ended a 12 week holiday at the Melia Madeira Mare. Another incredible and memorable experience. Nothing once more has been too much trouble for the professional and dedicated management team, who are excellent role models for their incredible and caring team of staff throughout the entire hotel complex. On this holiday the needs of my husband and myself were quite different as my husband was hospitalised for a 3 week period. Everyone at the hotel had been made aware of our situation and all the extra personal kindnesses were demonstrated in a way that we have never experienced elsewhere. The family caring atmosphere was unbelievable in every way. I also had a milestone birthday during our stay which was marked in a very special and unique style that we will never forget. We look forward to many more wonderful holidays in Madeira at this magnificent hotel which has a special culture of its own that could be seen as best practice in peer grouping with other hotels. Enormous thanks to everyone at the hotel who has had such an important impact on this special holiday. Xxxxx
Great location
I recently stayed at Melia and had a very pleasant stay . The Hotel is vey modern and the rooms are nice with very spacious bathrooms. The service should have been better , on arrival there was no one at the reception or entrance but there was however a Welcome sign! At breakfast there was no one at the entrance either not at all times anyway! It did lack attention to detail but the staff were pleasant and polite! Overall it’s a great hotel with excellent rooms and facilities. Great location overlooking the Atlantic and near public transport and shops !
Lovely hotel in a great location. Fabulous access to all of Funchal, promenade and a Levada walk.
We stayed 5 nights bed and breakfast. Lateral sea view. I'd have preferred to have been closer to the sea than the road and the view would have been better but accept that i got what i paid for. Nice sized room, really comfortable bed. We loved the location. Lido promenade is lovely and a good base to explore if you like walking. Easy to catch the airport bus for 5 euros to practically outside the door. Buffet breakfast was good, indoor pool was nice although the jacuzzi was only 34 degrees but felt colder. too cold for me to stay in. We couldn't get a late check out which was a surprise in Feb but saying that we could leave our suitcases in the store room and used the spa showers and that was perfect for us. Really made the use of the last day. It feels like a good four star rather than 5 to me but I judge on what I paid. This was really good value and I have no complaints. Just little touches could have improved it. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice hotel in a location outside of the main centre. Plenty of bars, shops and restaurants around plus access to the Levada dos Piornais above the hotel for those who want to walk some trails.
