Christmas “on the beach”

Jan 2022 | Chris A
I have always wanted to try Christmas abroad and this was a first. The hotel is definitely in a great location being right near the beach and a short stroll to the main area with all the bars and restaurants. The hotel itself in terms of flexibility i.e. self catering to all inclusive or just the odd meal is perfect or studio to one/two bed apartments. The hotel is very clean as are the well maintained gardens and grounds. There is easy access to a lovely sandy beach. We booked an all inclusive package and must admit made good use of the restaurants lovely selection on offer. Unfortunately due to the COVID restrictions being brought forward from New Year to cover Christmas it created a lot of problems for the staff and holidaymakers. Christmas Eve turned into mad dashes being made to Pharmacies etc to get lateral flow tests to face not being denied entry to the restaurant. Simple fix, make sure you take a box of lateral flow tests with you. No fault of the hotel or its team but entirely down to the Government’s decision. I get it though. Anyone falling foul of the rules faced stiff fines. Crazy as Boxing Day no tests were required and all free to use the facilities. There you go !!!! Christmas Day dinner was absolutely gorgeous. The selection available with fresh seafood and turkey being carved by the chef with all the trimmings. Wow!! Waiter service, wine, water and the hotel also provided entertainment. Could not fault the hotels efforts. Lucia, the Customer Care Rep for the hotel, did a fantastic job in trying to organise tests for people etc and was under considerable pressure, as was the Manager who resolved the issue my wife and myself found ourselves in. A credit to the hotel. The restaurant team are all fantastic and a special mention to Miguel whose rendition of Red, Red wine always brought a smile to my face. Will we return. Most definitely. Can’t wait.

Beautiful find

Great hotel the gardens are amazing with private gate to access the beach (you unlock with room card) the beds were so comfortable and the room was spotless. There 2 restaurants the food smelled nice Tho we ate out. Saw saunas per family’s to use again we didn’t use and there’s rooms with jacuzzi in the gardens .All rooms come with a little garden that has table sun loungers chairs .Reception area very well decorated the staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome the location was great near the strip.there’s a kid club but with Covid wasn’t available we will definitely go back .

Lovely hotel right next to the beach

The hotel is in a perfect location right on the beach. We went for 4 nights over the new year. Our deluxe 1 bed apartment room was good and overlooked the pool, had everything we needed to cater for ourselves but we upgraded to all inclusive when we arrived as we meeting our friends there who were on an all inc package. Normally we prefer to eat out at local restaurants but due the restrictions in Portugal, we decided mainly base ourselves around the hotel. (We went on a Jet2 holidays SC package) The all inclusive ‘lite’ was 30 Euros per person per day, for our 11 year old it was 15 Euros per day. We thought the food was great quality and made the most of the drinks too. House wine, spirits, liqueurs, beer, soft & hot drinks etc was included. I think it might get a bit repetitive after a week but for our short stay, suited us. The only criticism would be that you couldn't get a soft drink between 10.30am and 12.30 when lunch started - due to compulsory closure of all bars in Portugal between 25 Dec-9th Jan, only the restaurant served drinks. No big deal though. We were blessed with blue skies and 20 degrees warmth for most of our stay, pool a little chilly but that’s normal for Portugal. We had great fun jumping the waves in the sea - beach is lovely. All the staff work so hard and looked after us very well, strict covid measures in place and we felt very safe, the hotel was super clean. The gala dinner on NYE was quite expensive (another 90 Euros each adult) on top of the AI upgrade, but the food was amazing, best seafood I’ve ever tasted, waiter service with great wines, party bags, bottles of champagne just before midnight and entertainment too. Overall, we really enjoyed it - and yes it’s a pain travelling from the UK with stupid money for testing etc but so worth it. The Algarve needs tourism to survive, so many of the lovely people need visitors to earn a living, we wouldn’t hesitate to travel again. Thank you x
