Calheta Beach - All Inclusive

Calheta Beach is a family-friendly hotel on the southern shores of Madeira. As the name suggests the hotel is located adjacent to Praia da Calheta, one of the few sandy beaches on the island. The town is within walking distance, with bars and restaurants to discover, as well as local attractions, such as the popular marina.

The hotel has three pools - an outdoor one, an indoor heated option and a shallow one for the kids to splash about in. The grown-ups may choose to partake in the aqua aerobics classes or they can just relax in a sunlounger by the pool. For some competitive fun, challenge your family or friends to a game of table tennis or darts. Or set goals for yourself at the hotel's gym. When you want to unwind, there's a range of massages that you can choose from at the spa. Here, you'll also find a sauna and Turkish bath available to use.

Guests can start the day with a choice of hot and cold specialities for breakfast at Calheta Restaurant, while in the evenings there are themed buffets. Alternatively, Onda Azul offers an a la carte Madeiran menu for lunch and dinner. If it’s a warm evening, why not dine al-fresco? For a drink or light snack during the day visit Praia Bar, with direct promenade access, or Pôr do Sol by the pool. For a post-dinner glass of Port visit Bar Rabaçal with its comfortable sofas, billiards tables and live entertainment.

All rooms have a TV with satellite channels, Wi-Fi, mini-bar, hairdryer and air conditioning. The apartments also have a fully equipped kitchenette.

Madeira, being hundreds of miles from the mainland, is an excellent place for spotting whales. The departure point for whale watching tours is just a few minutes walk from Calheta Beach. The hotel is around 40 minutes drive from the island's capital Funchal. Here you'll find numerous museums on the old town's cobbled streets, including a local history museum and a sacred art museum. For something more modern, simply stroll around and admire the numerous examples of street art in the city. On your way back, stop off at Cascata dos Anjos, one of the most picturesque waterfalls on the island. If your hire car has got dirty, drive it along the road at the base for a free, environmentally friendly car wash!
