Quinta Splendida Wellness & Botanical Garden is in a small resort surrounded by nature, on the Portuguese island of Madeira. It's a short drive from the island's capital of Funchal, and within walking distance of the beach. The hotel has a 24-hour reception and Wi-Fi throughout. There's a choice of bars and restaurants for all your drinks and meals. After-dinner entertainment is provided three times a week. You can also play putting green during the day, or a few games of table tennis or pool in the evening. There's a hotel gym to work out, and an indoor pool where you could do some lengths. You can follow your exercise by relaxing in the whirlpool, Turkish bath or sauna. Alternatively, you could choose for a massage, or try one of the beauty and wellness treatments on offer. Outside there's a garden and a sun terrace where you can enjoy the sunshine. There's also a pool area with an outdoor pool. Madeira is popular with holidaymakers because of its cosmopolitan urban centres side-by-side with natural scenery and a wide selection of beaches. Being surrounded by the ocean, it's also a favourite with food-lovers who want to try freshly caught seafood in the local restaurants.

The hotel has a shuttle service to take you around the local area, but you can also explore on foot. It's 50m to the centre of CaniÁo, where you'll find shops and places to eat and drink. The beach at Reis Magos is 2km away from the hotel, so you can walk down to the sand every day. There's also the Palheiro golf course 7km from the hotel. Funchal, the island's capital, is 10km away. It has cobbled streets, boutiques, four beaches and a marina. Here you can enjoy the history and scenery on a day out, before taking in the bars and restaurants in the evening.

Quinta Splendida Wellness & Botanical Garden has two bars, including a pool bar that serves drinks and snacks and offers an a la carte menu. There's also a buffet restaurant and two further a la carte restaurants, both with outdoor seating and one serving Thai food.

The hotel holds entertainment including dancing and singing three times each week. You can also play table tennis and putting green during your stay.

A hotel in the middle of a beautiful garden

Lovely quiet garden setting with excellent staff and atmosphere. Beautiful plants all around..tended by gardeners everyday. Reception, restaurant and cleaners all very helpful and friendly. Yes the bed was firm, but that suits me fine. The decor isn't the most up to date, but you're not paying Reids hotel prices. The food is amazing..variety enormous amount of fresh tropical fruit. We never needed to go out anywhere else in Canico. Highly recommended!

Great start to our Madeira holiday

A special hotel where I was treated to a suite for my birthday. But a disappointed with the Thai restaurant which had been amalgamated into the main restaurant and had a limited tame menu . Excellent place to stay with a wonderful garden to explore.

My 8-day retreat 'Live Now' with six participants in Quinta Splendida

I was there first on my own in January 2022 and was so delighted that later that year I came back with a friend. After that it occurred to me that it would also be nice to organise a retreat/workshop with a group of students of my Laborint school for the Art of Living – and it appeared that it was possible to rent a group room So we came from February 13-20 and had a marvelous and fruitful time. The views of the sea and the botanical garden were stunning, The rooms (with kitchenette) were luxurious, cosy and clean, the service was magnificent, the breakfast buffet overwhelming, the (warm indoor) swimming pool a delight – and the staff made sure that nothing was lacking from what we needed for our workshop. Definitely a place to come back to!
