Peace Quiet
Stayed in school half term and it was still very quiet. It felt very off season but weather was still hot but cloudy. Resort is basic but very pretty and staff very freindly and helpful. It took us a few days to realise you can get WiFi by hiring a router from reception. The TV was all in German. It was very relaxing but not much for kids to do unless you have days out. Their is a go ape in nearby vrs which was fantastic and easy to get to by train ,which was cheap and reliable. The go ape is called parque aventura, The beach is beautiful and reached by short boat trip.. I expect in summer it gets much busier but cabanos is still a small fishing village.
Nice accommodation
We had a lovely little bungalow right next to the tennis courts, very quite. The boat ride to the beach was lovely as was the beach very large with lots of room only one snack bar though and quite pricey so take your own drinks and snacks. The only criticism we had was the lack of decent eateries along the water front most of them are just snack bars. The best ones we found are the opposite way (turn left at the front of reception.) One is called jolly sailor which has lovely food and the other one is a bit further on called old barrel very reasonable prices. All in all a nice holiday but quite a lot of walking.
Family holiday
We needed 2 rooms so stayed in a villa apartment which was a bit too big for us . Ideal place to come as a family with children where it Is safe for them to play. Loved our garden and sitting there in the mornings with coffee and our roof terrace and all the relaxing peaceful green spaces. Enjoyed swimming In the pool which is spacious enough for all. Breakfast was nice eggs croissant cheese. At dinner there weren't so many options. It wasnice to sit outside on the terrace for dinner. The villas have cooking facilities and there is a supermarket on site so people cook at home more here I think with barbecues. The cafe bar had nice crepes. All the staff are friendly and nice and helpful especially in the bar and restaurant. There is a little shop with trinkets on site as well as lots of sports tennis volley ball facilities. There is the little train to take you from outside the hotel to cabanas and to the the hotels boat to take you to the beach. Not so good if you have mobility issues. Enjoyed the little boat ride to the beach which is long and sandy. Water was surprisingly cold and can get too windy so best to go in the morning. The seafront and boardwalk at cabanas is pleasant . The bus to Tavira also stops right outside the hotel and takes only about 10 minutes. Really loved the atmosphere at Tavira where there was a festival on. The complex is large and lots of watered green spaces and trees which is lovely. Also washing machines and ATM on site so is good for long stays. Enjoyed the music at the bar in the evenings. Most restaurants in town open only in the evening from 7pm Enjoyed the peaceful and tranquil surroundings.
