Cascade Wellness Resort

Unwind in the lap of luxury at Cascade Wellness Resort, a five-star clifftop retreat on Portugal's southern coast. With incredible views of the Atlantic Ocean, you just know there will be an amazing Algarve beach nearby - it's a short walk from here to the sands of Praia do Porto de Mos, one of the longest shorelines in Lagos. All in all, this hotel’s in the perfect spot for a top-notch holiday for couples, singles, friends and families.

The focus here’s on refreshing both body and mind, but how you do that’s up to you. You could indulge in the array of treatments and massages at the spa - this tranquil hideaway has a heated outdoor pool, Turkish bath, sauna, whirlpool and ice fountain. A completely child-free zone, it’s open only to those aged 16 and over.

But don’t worry, the kids will be having too much fun to realise what they’re missing out on! There are two pools for children - plus an awesome adventure playground. During the summer, 3-12 year olds can throw themselves into all the adventures of Caskiddy Kids’ Club, too. Perhaps they’ll make masks, learn about Portuguese explorers and make new friends in the playroom. And, if you’re travelling in the Easter, May or summer holidays, make sure you register your soccer fans (5-15 years) for training camp at the football academy!

Actually, this swanky hotel’s a winner for sports and games for all ages, with tennis courts and coaching, a driving range, pitch and putt, stand-up paddleboarding, surfing, windsurfing, kayaking, segways, table football, table tennis and snooker all available. Don’t want to drop your usual workout routine? Make your way to the gym, join one of the pilates, aerobics, spinning and yoga classes, or sign up for the hotel’s own fitness bootcamp - good luck!

Sometimes, though, all you want to do is chill out and enjoy the great weather, so head for the deck by your favourite pool - will it be the central swim-and-sun area or the sand-bottomed pool near the apartments? They’re surrounded by lawns and set away from the roads, creating a tranquil atmosphere for sunbathing.

And if you prefer to stretch out on a sandy beach, Lagos has some of the best in the Algarve region. 1.5km from the hotel is Praia de Dona Ana, recognised as one of the best beaches in the world by Conde Nast Traveller. Colourful cliffs that disappear into the clear waters make this stretch of coastline a must-see!

Want to see more of this beautiful area? Hire a bike and head out to explore on two wheels, or join a cycling tour to discover Lagos, about 3km from Cascade Wellness Resort. While the city’s main strip’s alive with bars and pubs, and positively buzzes at night, there’s plenty more to discover - including cobbled streets, a natural harbour, a treasure-trove of a flea market, and countless mouthwatering restaurants.

You won’t want to miss the dining at Cascade Wellness Resort, either. Tickle your tastebuds at Mundi Restaurant’s round-the-world buffet, tuck into the best of Portuguese food at The Gastropub, or treat your senses with refined gastronomy at Senses Restaurant. And if you need a quick snack during the day, see what’s on offer at Sandy Bay Pool Bar or the sea-view Lighthouse Bar.

As for your room, whether you’re in the hotel building or the apartments, you can look forward to luxurious details such as L’Occitane toiletries and a cosy bathrobe and slippers. You’ll also have free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV with cable channels and movies on demand, a minibar, air conditioning and a balcony or terrace with resort, pool or sea views.

Hotel rooms (max 2 adults and 1 baby) and suites (max 2 adults and 2 children up to 12yrs, or 3 adults) have a walk-in rain shower as well as a bath.

Relaxing and spacious with beautiful surroundings

This was a beautiful, relaxing and welcoming hotel. The food was excellent, rooms and communal areas clean and spacious. We stayed in room 216 which was facing the pool and had a large balcony and large bathroom. It was conveniently close to reception and the bar, yet it was quiet and relaxing. Staff were delighted to help their customers and they clearly work hard to ensure their customers have a nice holiday. Well done to the team. We very much look forward to returning to this hotel next year and have recommended it to friends and family already.

Wonderful hotel in every way!

My family and I stayed here for a week and had a really wonderful stay. I'd say it's an excellent hotel in every way. I don't often go back twice to the same hotel but this is one that I would be extremely keen to return to. Dora from "bookings" was exceptionally helpful and friendly when I was dithering between two separate rooms or a 2 bedroom apartment. Dora called me back, checked things out and answered all my questions. In the end we chose the apartment and we weren't disappointed. Comfortable beds with nice linens, fully equipped kitchen, maid service everyday. Three bathrooms, outdoor space and roof loungers - it was so spacious! (Just missing a sea view to be absolutely perfect). We were welcomed with some strawberries dipped in chocolate and a bottle of carva, which was a nice touch after our long journey. The weather was beautiful when we were there. Grounds and pool were well maintained and even though the hotel was completely full when we were there, there was plenty of room at every pool on the comfortable loungers - the umbrellas provided good shade. The breakfasts were a dream come true! We had a friendly welcome from one slightly older waiter in particular who always remembered who we were and if any of our kids had already been in. Beautiful fruits carefully prepared (loved the mango!) and there was everything that anyone could possibly want. The coffee was good and plentiful (2nd and 3 rd cups came quickly when asked). Coffee is important part of breakfast for me and I often find it watery in hotels. The little cakes and breads were lovely. It was thoughtfully laid and presented. I liked the hand sanitisers placed around the buffet and used them regularly. The only thing is that a few mornings not all of the guests wore masks whilst at the breakfast buffet which might have made some other guests feel unsafe. I don't know if mask wearing was a fixed rule when we were there. All the waiters worked so hard and were polite and friendly. We went to senses restaurant one night and had a table inside. The food was quite good and the service and wine were of a 5* standard. I found the restaurant too brightly lit to have a really conducive atmosphere. The outdoor terrace looked cosier and would recommend that rather than sitting inside. I was glad that we hadn't booked half or full board options since we enjoyed the atmosphere in Lagos town in the evening a lot. IN October the town was buzzing and many restaurants were fully booked and with queues. We had great food in the more informal bar at lunchtimes - kids loved the steak sandwiches and I enjoyed the prawns. We all used the gym and the equipment was of a high standard. I went to a fitness class (core training) and wish I could have done some more. The trainer was very nice. My husband and son enjoyed the tennis courts and the spa and pool were lovely. Just wish I could have stayed longer than the week! It was an amazingly restful stay and one that I can whole heartedly recommend.

Excellent and relaxing.

Stayed in an apartment for a week. A bit slow letting us check in but otherwise we had a very good stay. Apartment was very big and comfortable. It was very clean and housekeeping called every day to maintain it. Very good kitchenette with top class appliances. Shower pressure was fantastic. Although keeping the bathroom floor dry when showering is an effort! A choice of swimming pools and also areas to walk nearby. Half an hour walk from the main old town area which we enjoyed going to the restaurants in the evening.
