Colina Village

Colina Village is an apartment complex on the outskirts of Carvoeiro, on the southern Portuguese coast. It's a short walk from the apartments to Carvoeiro Beach, tucked away within a bay in the Algarve. You can walk on the sandy beach, sunbathe or take a swim in the Atlantic Ocean. The apartments are set within a tropical garden, offering a relaxing setting in which to relax on the terrace or swim in one of the pools. The complex has two pools within its gardens, as well as an indoor pool if you want to swim out of the sun. For those seeking sporting activity, the hotel has a tennis court. In the evening, Colina Village hosts family-friendly entertainment, and there's also a pool table on site. You can take a short walk or catch the shuttle service to Carvoeiro town and beach. You can wander past the typical Portuguese-style buildings to the beach, or continue up the cliff towards a renowned beauty spot with panoramic views of the town, the bay and the ocean beyond. The town has many markets for you to browse, and several restaurants and bars where you can go for a meal or an evening drink.

Colina Village is 2km from Carvoeiro and Carvoeiro Beach, with several other beaches to visit within a short drive. The area is known for its natural cave formations such as the Benagil Caves. The apartments are 4km from a water park with slides and activities for both adults and children. To take a break from the beaches, you can visit the town of Silves, which is within driving distance of Colina Village heading inland past the town of Lagoa. You can wander its cobbled stone streets and admire its colourful lanes decorated with mosaic patterns. The town has many cafes and museums to visit, and ancient architecture to discover.

Colina Village has an ala carte restaurant offering a range of Portuguese dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The apartment complex also has two bars, one of which is a pool bar, offering drinks and snacks. There are also a few restaurants and bars in Carvoeiro.

Alongside its family-friendly shows, Colina Village provides in-house entertainment for children six times per week. The entertainment typically includes games and quizzes.

The apartments at Colina Village are bright and colourful with modern furnishings. They each come with air conditioning, satellite TV, a fridge and kitchenette.

Wonderful holiday

I can't sing the praises of this place enough. We are still here for another two days and wish it was longer. We booked a two bed apartment for our family of 4, children 3 and 8. It was spotless and just the right size with everything you need, just wish there was a washing machine (please look into putting these in) Maid cleaned our accommodation everyday except Sunday, never had so many clean towels. Bar staff are so friendly and after a few days knew my order. Close to the centre but also far enough away to be more chilled out. Children's pool and adult pool spotless, adult pool very deep 2.3m which my kids loved. Little play area with slides and swings. Great choice of food at the bar and restaurant. Would definitely look to rebook next year.

Very good, budget self-catering hotel

Positives Self-catering facilities including oven Single storey room Village location lay out Peaceful location Recently decorated bathroom and kitchen Well maintained Very spacious rooms Cleaning Quietness of facility (start of season visit) Negatives Road immediately outside hotel has no footpaths Did not use Restaurant Outdoor pool Indoor pool We stayed here for two weeks in early March, self-catering, just as the property was reopening and had a really nice, relaxing and peaceful holiday. Some of the facilities weren't operating but this did not spoil our stay. We were allocated room 2, a single-story apartment overlooking the pool area. The apartment was really nice, consisting of a large recently refurbished bathroom with two sinks, a large recently refurbished kitchen/diner, a large living room/diner and a good-sized bedroom with plenty of storage, and a large storage cupboard with ironing board. All rooms were well decorated and as stated, some had clearly been recently redecorated. The self-catering facilities were excellent including an oven and two hobs with several temperature setting. Also included was kettle, coffee machine, hand blender, toaster and lots of plates, dishes, spoons, knives, forks etc. We couldn’t turn the kitchen tap on, but this was fixed the day we reported it. The kettle had lost its filter so the water in the kettle had to be changed after every boil to stop limescale in the drinks. The single-story building and meant that there was no noise from any guests above and the village layout was also nice. The restaurant was closed for the first week, and the indoor pool and courtesy bus were also not operating. We had been informed about the courtesy bus, but not about the restaurant, however this did not spoil our stay. Standard of cleaning was very good, rooms were cleaned six days a week. There were plenty of sunbeds around the pool, and due to it being the start of the season, the pool area was very quiet. The hotel is in a quiet location 1.5 miles from the centre of Carvoeiro and 1 mile from a good Intermarche supermarket in the opposite direction. The only downside to the location is that the road on which the hotel is on has no footpath and can get a little busy, so care is needed if you are walking. This is only for a few hundred metres, after which either quieter roads can be accessed, or there is space for a footpath. Carvoeiro itself was a small, charming resort which we enjoyed very much. There is a fantastic rugged coastline, much of which can be walked. We would definitely return to Carvoeiro and would undoubtedly stay in this hotel again

A little sunny break

Chose to travel to Colina Village because we wanted an apartment with 2 bedrooms. Having flown in, we did not intend to self cater and were on half board. Arriving on 27th March, the place was very quiet with few of the accommodations actually occupied. Having been to the Algarve in March before, we knew to bring warm clothing for mornings and evenings and this knowledge proved very useful on this trip too. We were usually on our own in the restaurant both for breakfast and dinner. However, although the food chosen from the half board menu, was only typical holiday hotel fare, the service and attention from the staff at both meals, was fantastic. Very few options for any vegetarian and very few vegetables for the rest of us. The apartment was basic and clean with a well equipped kitchen but with only one electrical socket which had to be shared by both kettle and microwave. All the cups were small coffee cups and there was no washing up kit supplied. The bedrooms were a good size with comfortable beds and both heating and A/C. Good hot water but a very basic shower over the bath. Hairdryer borrowed from reception. We were in number 11 which had a great west facing terrace for afternoon sunbathing. Away from the main road it was quiet apart from the morning cockerel and some dog barking. The minibus into town and the indoor pool were both not operating during our stay. The WIFI only worked in the immediate area, inside and outside, around the reception office. We were aware of the walk down into the town which took us about 30 minutes but which was tricky in parts because of no pavement and drainage channels on the edge of the roadway. Once you reach the part nearer town, there are pavements although not always flat and even. Of course the return is uphill although a taxi ( or Uber) can be picked up in the town. We quite enjoyed our week at Colina, the weather was favourable and there was just about enough to do to fill our time.
