Alfagar Alto da Colina is a family-friendly aparthotel close to the popular town of Olhos d'Agua on the southern tip of the Algarve. Here guests benefit from having their own private apartment, while still having access to a wide range of facilities that you would expect. Go for a swim in the heated pool, watch the kids have fun in the waterpark, challenge your partner to a game of tennis or complete a workout in the gym. You can do it all here. Organised activities will keep the children occupied, while the whole family can enjoy the evening entertainment programme.
In your apartment, you’ll find a furnished balcony, a living room with a sofa bed, a bathroom, a TV with satellite channels and a fully equipped kitchenette. Stock up with all the food and drink you’ll need at the onsite mini-market.
If you don’t fancy preparing your own meals, the Palm restaurant offers buffet breakfasts and evening meals. Giovanni's offers Italian dinners, choose your favourite pasta, pizza or grilled steak, available to eat onsite or as a takeaway. If you’re very hungry there’s an all-you-can-eat option. You won’t feel homesick at the Tavern Bar with its British look and feel. Enjoy a lager here while watching Wimbledon or a Premier League match.
Santa Eulalia beach is 500m from the hotel, where you can relax on the sands. Further beaches are located along the coast, some of which are sandwiched between spectacular cliff formations and the ocean. The centre of Olhos d'Agua is 2km away. Here, you'll find a variety of shops and small market stalls selling local handmade products and souvenirs. If you’re travelling with kids you won’t want to pass up the opportunity to take a dolphin safari.

Perfect holiday
This is our third holiday here and it was perfect. The apartment was clean and well equipped with a 4 ring hob, small oven, toaster, kettle, filter coffee maker (you can buy filters at the Alfagar village mini-market) and microwave. The fridge has a small ice compartment at the top. Tap water is good enough to brush your teeth and boil in the kettle for tea and coffee, we didn't drink it cold straight from the tap though and instead had bottled water for that. A fixed hairdryer is in the bathroom but there are plugs in the bedroom, one next to the mirror if bringing one from home. Room cleaning was 5 days out of 7 and cleaned very well, towels including the tea towel were changed and complimentary toiletries and toilet rolls replenished as required. The open plan living area was able to be closed off from the bedroom by sturdy sliding wooden doors and there were patio doors from both the living area and bedroom to the balcony. Ours was a garden view and got the sun on a morning which was perfect for breakfast. We arrived at approximately 7pm and had a meal in the Tavern bar which was excellent. Drinks prices were 5€ for a pint and a half of San Miguel, which was reasonable and cocktails were 7€. The food in the Tavern bar can also be be ordered to take away to eat in the apartment but this is not something we tried. For groceries we shopped at the Alfagar village mini-market, at the Spar just past the Golf Hotel next door and for a bigger shop at the intermarche which was about 20 minutes walk towards Albufeira. The hotel staff arranged a taxi/minibus for us to Albufeira old town 8€ and the driver gave us a card with his number to ring when we wanted to be collected although the municipal taxis (green and black markings) were available and there were tuktuks at the old town for alternative transport. I used the indoor swimming pool every morning, this was clean and secure, a swimming hat (available from reception at small cost) is required to be worn. The towels in the apartments are not to be used outside of the apartments but we had brought our own for the pools and sun loungers so this wasn't an issue. Having use of the Alfagar village facilities was an advantage though we only used the mini-market. The splashzone and waterslide area, high ropes etc did not appear to be open during March but looked as though it had been recently renovated, there weren't many children there when we were as it was out of season which would explain it not being in use. Not everything was open in March but that didn't mean there was nothing to do and we enjoyed our holiday, so much we wish we could have stayed longer. Something I wish I'd checked before arrival (my fault as didn't check first) As we arrived too late to shop we could have ordered a welcome food and drink pack direct from the hotel in advance - see the FAQ section on the website for how to order and what is included) which would have meant we weren't looking to shop straight away the next morning.
Amazing
Just spent a week in alto da colina and it was just beautiful. Staff are all brilliant, especially jorge. rooms are lovely and clean and very spacious and i cant wait to return. Would highly recommend xxx
Lovely family holiday and would come again and stay at this hotel.
Great family hotel with lots to do for the kids. There’s a good size water park at the front of the hotel, with another pool and bar for snacks and drinks. The bigger main pool is at the back of the hotel, you can also use the pools in the sister hotels which are really close together, they are really cold but get used to it after a while. The indoor pool is warm. You need to use swimming hats in the indoor pool and wrist bands are given to you when you check in so you can use all the pools. There’s a football pitch, small running track, high ropes as well as a pool table and few arcade machines. The hotel is well looked after and clean but does need updating a little bit, the bathrooms mainly. The hotels shop was closed maybe because it was October half term. So you have to walk to a local spa which is not that far. Food at the hotel was nice, we found the best one to eat in was the Buganvilia which is in the Alfagar Village. The beach is less than 10 minutes walk away from the Alto Da Colina, there’s a lot of steps so not really accessible if you’re disabled or pushchairs. The staff were lovely and all helpful. We used a lot of Uber taxis, no more than €4/5 to get to places, old town would cost you about €6. I would stay in the hotel again, only downside for us was the music was loud each night, so when your trying to sleep because you’ve been travelling or about to travel it might keep you awake like it did us, we paid for Seaview but I think you’d hear it no matter what room you book in the hotel. This hotel is definitely for small kids and teens, if you want less noise and more calm then I’d book the village seafront view next time. Overall, lovely holiday and great memories made and one of the best hotels we saw while there.
