The hotel is nestled in the medina of Marrakech. Pros- safe location within the medina walls, good spot for the square. Kindly allowed a 1pm check out instead of 12 noon. No alcohol can be purchased here but if you bring duty free from departing airport you can use the terrace area to consume it and wine glasses are available for use - ( would definitely advise this if you like a glass of wine as it’s severely restricted within the medina) Nice traditional breakfast and friendly service specifically at breakfast time from the same guy. General cleanliness outside the rooms is good. Cons- no towel change or room service what so ever. Lack of shower curtain therefore need to use towels to soak up the overspill - we left wet towels outside the door but no replacements given and had to seek out the stash of towels ourselves Wi-Fi is very slow Cleanliness inside the rooms is not as good as public areas - under the bed as an example and some walls grubby. Definitely not 4 star , I would say 2 to 3 star max Shower is an experience as previously mentioned with no shower curtain and lack of floor mats , water can go from cold to extremely scolding hot in seconds. Generally accommodating to needs Remember you need to pay the tourist tax, we didn’t get asked to pay this until we were literally leaving for the taxi and it was a long process to pay by card , involves typing your card number etc into a laptop where they seem to have previously stored cards that haven’t been deleted , pay by cash if you can.

Friendly Riad in a quiet side street

Riad Africa is located in a side-street off a side-street in the old median area in Marrakech. Our room had a double bed and a single. The room was small, but adequate. Nice rooftop sitting area away from the noise of motorbikes etc. The Riad has a small pool ( 1m deep 0 to cool off in summer. Breakfast was included in our deal. A few small touches would improve things ( plumber to check bathroom fittings etc. ) . Overall we had a pleasant stay here and was satisfied. The staff were helpful and spoke English and many other languages. WiFi in most parts of the Riad. They brought and returned luggage from a Taxi in the nearest square which allowed cars. We did not eat any main meals in Riad Africa but others did. The owner also has a hotel in the Atlas Mountain area. They arranged excursions for us which were good value and with friendly driver-guides.

Marvellous Marrakech

Perfectly located for all that Marrakech has to offer; a few minutes on foot from the main square, souks and other sights. Comfortable, well-appointed rooms with an excellent roof terrace and other social spaces. The staff are exceptional with nothing being too much trouble. Half board option worked well and meals reflected local cuisine and were nutritious. Excursions could easily be arranged through the hotel with a familiar, nearby pick up/drop off point. Would thoroughly recommend.
