Sleep Quality

Very nice accomodation

May 2022 | 295anastasiav

Riad Africa is conveniently located in Medina of Marrakech, approximately ten minutes from Jemaa El Fnaa Square. At first one may feel uncomfortable, especially at night because of the narrow alleys that lead to the accommodation, however the area is very safe. The Riad is very clean, the rooms very pleasant and are cleaned daily. It could of course have stronger doors and windows, as well as electrical outlets. On the second floor there is a very beautiful terrace on three levels, with comfortable seats, where you can relax all hours or take your breakfast or dinner. ( Breakfast is rich and tasteful) The most important advantage of the accommodation is the very kind and helpful staff. I would especially like to thank Aziz Olfussi, who was very willing to serve us at all times, always very smiling and friendly making us feel at home.

Home (again) to Riad Africa

Apr 2022 | Harveys48

This is the 4th holiday when we have made Riad Africa Marrakesh our base for a Moroccan holiday and it felt like coming home; welcomed back by friendly staff, comfortable beds, clean well-equipped rooms (including tea/coffee making facilities, a ‘frig, safe, hairdryer). As always we enjoyed the drama of arrival, following Ibrahim who transported our cases off the main thoroughfare down apparently dead end side streets until a wooden door opens and we are again within the drama & comfort of Road Africa. Built principally around 2 courtyards (each with a plunge pool), the beautiful roof terrace garden reveals impressive views of Marrakesh and beyond. It also hosts the bistro/restaurant and the generous buffet breakfast. There is a dining room there - so you have a choice of inside or out. And the food is delicious. Riad Africa is so conveniently situated within the medina (but easy to find) and very near the Bahia & Badia Palaces and the Saadian tombs. Those who want to explore further afield in the city can hire a caleche or taxi from Place des Ferblantiers, again very nearby. Prefer to shop? Just continue on foot through the souks of the medina and perhaps on to the ever busy Jemaa El-Fnaa square. But Riad Africa never stands still; since our last visit (Covid resulting in a long gap) it now offers its own hammam and under the umbrella of Specialist Morocco/Moroccan Hideaways now offers an impressive choice of trips or longer stays at their sister sites Kasbah Africa in the Atlas Mountains and their innovative & exciting camp in the Agafay stone desert. How about any of the following which also they offer? Learn how to cook genuine Moroccan food, camel rides, quad biking, a day at the seaside at tranquil Oualidia (fresh oysters) or at buzzy Essaouira, a hot air balloon flight or simply a guided tour (or guided shopping tour) around the Medina. And much more. Whether it’s your first time in Morocco or you have been before, you can find something new. We hope to make it our fifth time very soon.

Staff make this Riad

The Riad is located on the edge of the Medina so easy access to taxis and a 10 min walk to the main square along one of the many cobbled narrow street with small shops. The breakfast was hot omelette and continental food which was more than enough. This can be taken on the very spacious roof terrace. What really makes a stay at the Riad is the personal touch and the very helpful staff who are on hand 24/7. Aziz, the daytime manager and the lady who made up our room were super helpful. If you want a quality traditional place in the old town - I would recommend this. Make sure you get the Riad to meet you at the airport as finding the place initially can be challenging without internet.
