Great Riad, eccellente weekend!
We loved Angsana Riad. The room was very cozy and with extremely comfortable beds. The breakfast was delicious and we had the opportunity to try local specialties and pastries all homemade and fresh. Every single person that work there was very nice and friendly. We had the chance to know Nadia, who helped us with a booking issue and solved it perfectly coming towards our request. We will and already have recommended this riad to our friends/ family because everything was smooth and really made us have a perfect weekend with our friends in Marrakech. Will be back for sure!
Exceptional
From the moment the staff whisk your bags away and sit you in a beautiful courtyard with the best mint tea you will find in Marrakech and spectacular pastries, you know you are in for a treat. Rooms - we have been in two ( both deluxe rooms Zaouia) great space, beautiful furniture, sparklingly clean, lovely art work, wax melts are lit every day, you get an email before arrival for fragrance and pillow preferences. The best linens, fabulous towels, robes, slippers. Breakfast - fabulous service, great food, multiple courses, fresh baked goodies and lovely fresh juice and eggs. Location - moments from a vehicle access, so no lugging bags a long way past the speeding mopeds, and then an easy walk to anywhere in the Medina. Staff - save the best until last, every single member of staff seem happy to see you. Smiles, greetings and will clearly go the extra mile for anything you need, whether it’s a bath plug or daily demands for tea on the roof terrace. I haven’t left yet and I fear they may have to drag me out by the hair…… Treat yourself to a stay here and thank me later…..
Fantastic week in Marrakech
We stayed at the Lydines riad for a week over New Year 2023. This riad is conveniently located close to the Saadien's Tombs in the southern end of Medina. We had an extremely enjoyable week in Morocco. The hustle and bustle of the city at all hours was amazing. You definitely need your wits about you with the scooters on the narrow streets of the souks and the fumes can set your head spinning. But the people are very friendly. Even though you know they see you as a walking ATM, if you deal with then in a light hearted manner you can have good banter with them. We were warmly welcomed everywhere and were even brought to one of the Marrakech casinos by some Moroccans we met in a bar one night where we were not allowed to put our hands in our pockets. Even in Medina, there is no shortage of beautiful rooftop bars where you can get alcoholic drinks. The riad was of course beautiful even if the room was pretty small and the noise of old wooden doors being closed travels like like a hypersonic boom. Both of those are features of riads that are unavoidable. Some small criticisms would include the fact that the water pressure in the shower was poor (although, to be fair, low water pressure seems to be a common issue in the city, perhaps unsurprisingly). Some of the fittings and fixtures need attention (one of the taps was lose and an electric socket in the bedroom was coming out of the wall). There need to be more charging points for phones, powerbanks, smart watches etc. These things should be addressed, especially considering the amount of money we paid for 7 nights there. But none of that took away from the very enjoyable experience we had at Lydines Riad. The most special memory was the staff. We can't say enough about the service we received from Salah and the team at the Riad. We will fondly remember the chats during breakfast and the interesting and often funny stories about life in Morocco. Anything we needed was not a problem and we received invaluable advice on how to cope around the city. Even being way late for breakfast on a few occasions didn't stop them insisting on opening the kitchen again for us. Breakfast, by the way, was simple but healthy and tasty, with fruit, porridge and omelets. The room was meticulously cleaned, often twice a day. We can't speak highly enough of the service. Finally, we had an amazing New Year's Eve dinner and show in another of the hotel group's riads in Medina. We would highly recommend the Lydines Riad.
