On the Caribbean coast of Mexico, between the towns of Playa del Carmen and Puerto Morelos, is Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo, an All Inclusive, family-friendly hotel. This resort has a modern feel yet it's built in a style that reflects local Mayan architecture, with colourful paintwork, colonial details and thatch-roofed features. It's part of a complex of hotels set on Playa Paraiso and sits among gardens with tree-lined walkways leading to the sea. Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo has an outdoor swimming pool with waterfalls, whirlpools and a pool bar. It's surrounded by shady cabanas and Bali beds. The hotel organises a number of sports for active guests, including aerobics, water sports, golf and tennis. It also has a dive centre, a gym and activities for children. There's a variety of dining options, with five restaurants to choose from. You'll also find a nightclub and several bars. The resort is within driving distance of the historical city of Cancun with its shopping malls, white-sand beaches and archaeological sites. Cenotes Azul is a short drive away, and here you'll be able to swim alongside tropical fish in an underground river system. You can also explore the surrounding mangroves and jungle trails.
You'll find acres of coconut palms and mangroves near the hotel. These can be explored on foot, by buggy or on a zip line. Playa del Carmen on the Riviera Maya is 25km south of Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo. From here, you can explore Mayan archaeological sites or shop in the pedestrianised street market that runs along 5th Avenue. To the north, the former fishing village of Puerto Morelos is 15km from the hotel. You'll be able to haggle at the local art market or swim in a sinkhole. You can also take a day trip to the Xel-Ha Ecological Park with its underground rivers, rocky inlets and tropical-plant-filled nurseries.
The resort's restaurants offer buffet or a la carte options, featuring Mexican or Mediterranean cuisines. You can dine indoors or alfresco. There's a poolside bar, plus four other bars scattered throughout the grounds. They serve international soft drinks, alcoholic drinks and snacks throughout the day.
The hotel offers a spa, plus an entertainment programme. There are also clubs for kids and teenagers, plus a kids' swimming pool.
