We really enjoyed our trip to Iberostar! I considered giving 4 stars, but I think 3.5 is more accurate. I don't write many reviews, so I'll do a list of pros and cons. Pros: -check in was super easy. We ended up getting a ground floor room with two double beds, and they quickly moved us to a room with a king bed. They were super understanding and helpful. -the cleaning staff is amazing. Our room was always cleaned and tidied up. The grounds are clean and beautiful too. -all staff were very friendly and hard working. my husband loved Alfredo the pool bartender. -the area of the pool near the rock structure/hot tub was quieter and perfect for our baby free trip. The pool was clean too! It seems like they partially refill it on Fridays when the crowds arrive and so it was cooler. The pool water was definitely warm by Thursday. -the Beach is close by. About a 10 minute walk from the lobby. -Food in the buffet was good with a big selection. -our travel agency driver was late to pick us up. A woman who sat at the front talked to the travel agency for me in Spanish. That was totally not her job but she went above and beyond to help us. -lots of food options. The places at the shopping center were delicious! And we loved that there was a shopping center on site. Cons: -upon arrival, a concierge told us to come speak with her to schedule our dinner reservations. This was easy to do. We really wanted an explanation of the map and what time everything was open etc, but since it was late she told us to come back the next day and she would do it then and we could also finish making the rest of our reservations. When we came to see her, she was pitching a sales presentation for their vacation club to the other members of our group. Not a timeshare but basically a timeshare. Since my nephew was the only one old enough (32, and we are 28-29), he and his wife were given a day pass to the LINDO and access to the wet areas in the spa. For some reason, we couldn't be given the same things, so we were told we could use ours for a complete massage at the spa or whatever at the spa. It made it sound like it could be flexible. So against my better judgement, we took it. The 90 minute presentation took 3 hours. Stay away from this. They didn't twist our arms but it's a waste of time if you know you're not going to do it. And we still didn't get an explanation of the map but we kind of had it figured out towards the end. -the spa. I guess this was a misunderstanding on our end, but we could not use the coupon towards a facial or a couple's massage. However, she really did make it sound like we could use it for whatever. Anyways, the wet areas at the spa are definitely worth going to. A heated pool, hot tubs, a cold well, bubble beds, steam room and sauna are all great. We ended up paying $750 for a couples massage and two facials. The therapists were very sweet, but they are nothing like a licensed massage therapist. My husband described his as more of a back rub with lotion than a massage. They also kept the lights on and during the facials they opened the blinds. The facial was good but definitely not worth $100. We were shocked at the price we paid and the services we received. I would recommend the wet areas and a massage if you don't have to pay full price for it. -the drinks were hit or miss. Margaritas and other blended drinks at the pool were premixed and not very much alcohol. -this is not the fault of the resort, but there were constantly vendors on the beach trying to sell things. Overall, we had a great stay and would recommend it, but there were parts of our stay that I wish we hadn't done.
