Gran Porto Real is a beachfront All Inclusive hotel on the sands of Playa del Carmen in Mexico. The resort is to the south of Cancun on the Yucatán Peninsula, in an area of Mexico's coastline known as the Riviera Maya. The hotel is designed in a colonial Mexican style. One of the pools is used for organised activities such as aerobics, while the other is kept as a more tranquil area for relaxation. In the lobby bar, live music is played a couple of times a week. Gran Porto Real has a sauna and a gym, along with a spa where you can enjoy a massage or wellness treatment. The hotel has four restaurants and five bars. The Caribbean waters at Playa del Carmen are popular for surfing, diving and snorkelling. The hotel provides kayaking and snorkelling equipment, and as there are coral reefs quite close to the shore, you might be able to spot some of the varied marine wildlife, including brightly coloured tropical fish. If you want to venture further afield, you could take a ferry to the island of Cozumel and stroll along the sculpture-lined promenade, or take a boat trip out to one of the quieter islands.

Playa del Carmen Beach has white sand and coral reefs offshore. The pedestrianised strip of 5th Avenue is 100m away. Here you'll find a street market, souvenir shops, bars and ice cream parlours that stay open late into the evening. There are also plenty of restaurants. You can take a day trip to explore the Mexican jungles, especially the natural phenomena of fresh water sinkholes known as cenotes. These sometimes include mineral formations like stalactites and stalagmites. It's possible to swim in some of the larger ones. For those who are interested in history and culture, you could visit the Mayan ruins of Tulum.

You can enjoy international cuisine at breakfast, lunch and dinner in the buffet restaurant, or dine in the à la carte Mexican or Italian restaurants. There's also a Brazilian barbecue buffet in the evening, plus beach barbecue and sushi buffets at lunchtime. The self-service snack bar is open 24hrs a day.

Children can enjoy theatre shows at the hotel's kids' club, and there are separate activities for teens. There's a playground, playroom and children's pool.

There is a slightly calmer pool area and one where the day activities is organized, such as water gymnastics.
