What type of hotel is this?

What sort of hotel is this? On the evening of Sat 28th January 7 hours after checking out, I was charged for, pre-existing damage to a bathroom door in one of the 3 rooms that we had occupied for 4 days. When i challenged this , after it had been taken from my son's account without notification beforehand, the duty manager implied that we were tourists who didnt care, and this happens often, what sort of hotel is this? For information my son is not a tourist , he is a Maltese resident, and we were visiting him from the UK. The duty manager said when i was discussing this that I should have taken a video of the room at the start of our stay. They did not instruct this at the start of our stay, nor would i expect to be told to do this, i have never been asked to do this before, again what sort of hotel is this? The manager was not interested in listening to myself, definitely wouldn't talk to my son's fiancée. All I was told was to speak to the General Manager (Juliano) on Monday. The duty manager promised to email me a copy of the invoice that evening, 2 days later I am still waiting. On Monday I phoned and spoke to the General Manager and, as part of our conversation, I asked if the hotel had a video of the room before we checked in after which Juliano (General Manager) said that they could not be expected to do that as they are a 4* hotel. It seems however that they expect guests to do so. I would also like to point out to prospective guests that you should be aware that rooms on one side of the hotel overlook another hotel which is derelict that is used to house what appears to be constructions workers on a couple of floors. the buildings are probably no more than 40 metres apart, these rooms are classed “city view” although my room was a city view and ok view Because I was unable to prove the damage was already there, and even though the hotel couldn’t prove that it wasn’t I was deemed liable. I hope this review helps you avoid any nasty charges and to have a lovely time. If you want to stay here, check that you do not have a view of the derelict hotel before you book or sign to check-in. When, and if you do, i implore you to video any rooms before accepting the room key. This will avoid any difficult conversations.

Stayed here for a week in January 2023. paid a extra 91 Euros for a junior suite inc room tax This was very good value as the room is much bigger and has two balconies on the corner of the hotel facing the sea. ROOM 210 registration was quick and straightforward. breakfast was included with British airways holidays and was Buffet style with around 100 things to choose from including a Arabic food cart and a omelette station made to your liking in around 5 mins on average . ate once in the hotel one evening and ws great value for 19.95 euros Had two minor housekeeping problems but dealt with promptly a plug that would not seal and debris dropped on the the balcony but not serious.....180+ places to eat within walking distance . would stay again

- good location, close to public transport, surrounded by restaurants and bars, close to the sea - big and clean room, cleaned every day unless you want it (but leave the "do not disturb" sign until the afternoon, because we removed it and found the cleaning lady in the room even after 3 pm) - rich breakfast in the dining room with a sea view - swimming pool on the 7th floor, not too big, but great for refreshment - friendly staff, always at your service
