LABRANDA Riviera is located on Malta’s northern coast, overlooking the scenic Marfa Bay, giving unspoiled views of Gozo and Comino. The hotel couldn’t be better placed for a relaxing break, while the natural tranquillity is complimented by the hotel’s Spa. The Thalasso Centre houses an indoor pool, as well as a sauna and steam room. For those who prefer to be more active, there’s a fitness centre.

The hotel boasts four pools. The main indoor heated option is restricted to adults only between after 5pm but children haven’t been forgotten about, as they can make a splash in an outdoor kids-only one containing seawater. The collection is completed with two further options, open to all guests.

Those wanting to stay dry can sit poolside and indulge in a drink or snack from one of the two bars. You can also get a coffee or alcoholic drink in the lobby, while at The Cafe you can buy ice-creams for the kids while enjoying a gin & tonic for yourself. When it’s time to eat a full meal you’ll have a choice of four restaurants to choose from. If you don’t want to change out of your beachwear before eating, then you can eat at Hola Beach Club (next door to the hotel.) For guests who like to dress up for dinner, Byblos allows you to discover the taste of the Middle East, with a menu consisting of Lebanese cuisine. Alternatively, there’s Osteria, where the chef prepares Italian specialities from fresh ingredients. Those wanting something not too formal but also not too informal may prefer Miarsol. As well as being open for breakfast until 10am, this eatery reopens in the evening for buffet lunches and dinners but wearing swimwear here isn’t permitted.

Standard rooms are a generous 24.4m2 and all feature a balcony, TV with international channels, minibar, hairdryer and tea/coffee maker. Family options can sleep up to four people. The 34m2 Suites include a furnished terrace and sofa.

If you want to visit Gozo, rather than just admiring the view from afar, the ferry port is just 1.5km from the hotel. Here you can visit the crystal clear blue lagoon, where it is possible to go snorkelling. History lovers won’t want to miss the Citadella. For those not wanting to hire a car this resort is a great choice, as local buses can take you to Malta’s capital Valletta, Sliema and the tourist resort of Bugibba. So enjoy a glass of wine or two with your lunch, without worrying about being the designated driver.
