We skipped the crowds (and cost) in Venice and stayed in Chioggia after reading the NYT article where it raved about this "little Venice." It really is a special place and well worth the time spent, but be prepared, it is small Italian fishing village. Don't let that discourage you, it has an amazing beach (the NYT article never mentioned) within biking distance (don't bother with the car), AND you can take the ferry to Venice for the DAY. After a day in Venice, you are ready to get back to your easy life on Chioggia. OK the hotel. I really have saved the best for last. DON'T stay anywhere else. This hotel is right in the square, and the ferry docking station, on the water...and the photo here on TripAdvisor is completely accurate. The staff at the front desk is over-the-top helpful, hospitable, and welcoming. Breakfast is worth getting the plan. The buffet is fresh and plentiful, the cappuccinos are self-serve, the options include some German (or English) selections. Our room faced the water and we slept with the window open (it was October) and listening to the lapping water was awesome. (Note: you will also get the ferry noise/traffic, but it's all part of being on the water.) The room was large and super clean. Housekeeping does a great job. The parking was a bit far, but you can load and unload right at the front door of the hotel. Parking is inexpensive and safe...the whole town is safe. E-bikes are the standard mode of transportation and everyone is riding a bike, so borrow one (they are free) at the hotel and ride around like a local.

Great place stayed there a few times. Quality is great and always happy to go back. Staff are friendly and breakfast is first class. Great place and nice town, put it n your visit list. Town has excellent restaurants and the fish is second to none.

Nice autumn stay in Chioggia

We wanted to discover the surroundings of Venice and be closer to local people. Chioggia was a very pleasant place to stay. Our hotel was very comfortable, well located in front of the boat terminal. Thanks to the advices of Marcello, our lovely concierge we very guided to optimize our stay and discover exceptional small restaurants we will remember. Marcello not only made recommendations, but also reservations and advised what to order… only happiness:-)
