Nostalgic Stay at Grand Hotel Ambasciatori
This was a nostalgic stay for me as I stayed at the Grand Hotel Ambaciatori when I was a young boy, so in many ways it was a trip back in time. Sometimes we are blessed to return to a great place that influenced a young life. This hotel has one of the best food I venture to experience and fortunately their culinary talent remains a great testimony to Italian greatness. Their pasta and especially their truffle tagliatelle are to die for. The breakfast is also grand with fresh eggs, delicious omelette and great coffee. The service is impeccable. The hotel has a unique location on top of a cliff in Sorento with splendid views of the Mediterranean Sea. You can also conveniently walk to the city center and some great local restaurants. Including Pizzera da Franco. Many rooms have been renovated with a hint of the Sorento blue. Our Junior suite was spacious with an office desk made in old local wood. Sorento was known for their wood craft and this is an illustration of their historical past. Many tourists use Sorento as a base to visit Capri, Ravello, Positano and it is indeed a great place to do just that. Overall we had a great stay at Grand Hotel Ambasciatori.
Perfect for a family visit.
Beautiful and welcoming hotel, gorgeous, stunning views, incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The bar has great drinks, they serve a lovely breakfast with delicious coffee. The rooms are very clean with fancy toiletries and robes and slippers. Thrilled with the experience.
Fabulous with one negative
We were fortunate enough to stay in a junior suite overlooking the beautiful ocean vista in September for 5 nights. The rooms are modern, quiet with comfortable beds and all the amenities one requires. There is a small ocean view balcony with 2 chairs that I didn't want to leave. The hotel is located about a 10 to 15 minute walk from Piazza Tasso along a busy street . If you are not into walking, then I would recommend Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria. We enjoyed the swim area with easy access via an elevator. Really well done. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. The front desk staff are to be commended for their caring and very professional attitude. They really made our stay great with advice and helpfulness. The only negative experience and reason we did not give this hotel a 5 star rating is the housekeeping service. On several occasions we left a tag outside our door to make up the room only to return at 3pm to find the room was not made up. This was not corrected despite complaints to the front desk. On other occasions the shampoo was not replaced and the glass on the shower door not cleaned. Not exactly expected in a 5 star hotel.
