Hotel Club, Sant Agnello, Sorrento, Italy. 2 weeks full board. Double room with balcony. Nice and friendly family run hotel with great service in room and in restaurant. Rooms, pool area and roof terrace we would class as 3 star in the UK and it was all clean and served us well. Our thanks go out to the two Franko's, Christian, Luigi, Josephine and Marco who made us welcome throughout the 2 weeks we stayed there. The Hotel Club in Sant' Agnello is a good base for the tourist as you are only 5 mins walk to the train station which can take you down to Sorrento in 5 mins or up to Naples in around 1 hr 20 mins. A walk into Sorrento main square takes about 25 mins from the hotel. Hotel is only 10 minute walk to a couple of good supermarkets. Only downside to the hotel was the limited restaurant menu which seemed to repeat every 7 days. The dishes were good basic home cooked Italian fayre, however it all became a bit 'samey' after a week. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Club and we would recommend this hotel to you, but probably best on a B&B basis. Other things for the holidaymaker to note about the Sorrento area in June 2022. 1. Prices charged for food, drink and local travel, ferries etc have soared since we were last here pre-covid pandemic. Do your homework before you come here, you will need twice as much spending money as you think if you are intending to visit all the popular attractions. Maybe other European resorts will have a similar shock in store for the British holiday maker this year. 2. If you are disabled in anyway, you will struggle to get out and about here. The pavements are narrow, in poor condition and full of obstacles like trees, overgrown bushes and high kerbs. Very limited disabled access to most establishments. 3. Bring face masks, not just for covid protection but also for carbon monoxide fumes. The traffic is very heavy on most roads and a toxic layer of exhaust fume hangs everywhere at busy times. Avoid being a pedestrian near a main road at busy times. 4. Go any sightseeing trips early morning. By mid-day all the popular places like Amalfi, Positano, Capri are jam- packed with tourists, all being fleeced at around 10 euro for a drink in the local bars. 5. If you visit Naples do all your sightseeing via the open top bus (cost 24 euros pp). Take water with you. Bus terminus is down at the castle. Do not attempt to walk around this city. It's traffic borders on lunacy and the old part of town is run-down, filthy and can give you safety concerns. 6. Covid safety measures still apply on some public transport and public areas like theatre and museum, so be prepared for this. 7. If the Three Tenors are singing in Sorrento then definitely go. Fantastic evening's entertainment and worth the 45 euro entry fee. Take water with you. 8. If you like cheese, leave a couple of kg's in your case to take some home. The local supermarket has lots of delicious cheeses not available in the UK.

Poor at best ….

Small room with small shower, only storage was a small wardrobe no drawers, kettle but no cups. Extremely poor breakfast- stale bread, cold scrambled eggs, awful tea. Pool area very small only about 4 beds in the sun, roof terrace with no shade. No bar price list, not always someone on reception. Collected from bus drop-off point in a dirty car, dropped off for bus pick-up in the wrong place! Only a few staff understand English.

Hot spot
